I have been plotting my move to St. John for about a year now. It will be me, my husband, our dog, and our cat, as soon as he finishes school and I am on the edge of my seat excited. We are also doing a PMV this November! I can’t believe I just found this website and I am beyond words excited!! I just read someone’s story, the top ten things, the person who had the huge aquarium and moved with their husband?! Please respond because you’re basically me a few years from now.
anyway, my main thing to get my husband on board is obviously finding jobs, and networking is what I do best. So I am trying to scope something out for one of us before we move, for about a year and a half from now, although I am definitely saving up as much as I can, too. TIA!

Welcome to the forum.  Even though a lot of the information here is old, a lot of it is still relevant.  So spend some time going through the posts and reading as much as you can.

St. John tends to be pretty expensive and has its challenges because it is much smaller than the other two islands.  I guess a good place to start is with your budget for a place to live and what kind of jobs you will be seeking.  Frankly, it' tough to even say what things are going to look like here in a year from now.  After being pounded by the back to back cat 5 hurricanes in 2017, and now losing a good portion of 2020 tourism high and should season, I'm afraid a things are looking bleak for a lot of small businesses.

If you're looking for jobs, St. John is the last island I'd move to.  Much better prospects in St. Thomas and St. Croix.
