Dog Groomer on STX?

I've searched the board and not found an answer for this one - can anyone recommend a dog groomer on STX who is good with poodles? I have a mini poodle who has a standard kennel clip (not a crazy French clip) but grooming poodles is tricky or else they look, well, goofy. (Yes, insert obvious joke here!)

If anyone has someone to recommend I'd love to give them a try. 🙂 Thank you!

Don't have any suggestions for stx, but there is someone on stt that we know. Her name is karen and her business is called Style A Dog. She used to be our groomer when she lived in NY...and she did a good job, and with the dog too....we had a portugese water dog, and after a while going to Karen she would even lift her paws up for us to wash each one when we bathed her at home...Anyway, I'm just thinking she might have a rec. for stx...

I have thought about making him a bit more island. Gotta grow the topknot out first...

I get my dog groomed at Sugar Mill on STX every 2 mos or so. He is a poodle mix, and has "hair", not fur. She always does a really great job with him and always patiently listens to my instructions.

If I was down there I'd help you out, even teach you how. I bred mini and toy poodles for years and did my own grooming. When I worked for groomers I'd get chewed out for making customer dogs look too good, because they couldn't do as good a job when i was not there, LOL. I have a ton of extra grooming stuff still, several A-1 clippers, blades, slicker brushes, metal combs, three different style dryers, nail clippers in several sizes, even all sorts of plastic and wire crates, plastic portable dog tub, shampoos, hemostats, ear powder, StopQuick, scissors flat and curved, ribbon, sheesh, you name it. Heck, I should bring it down with me, "just in case" when I come. You never know...

Finally, an easy question here on the forum. Ler Smith owns a shop called Gallows Grooming in Gallows Bay. We have 2 poodles and she has many other poodle clients as well. Very experienced and reasonable too. We've gone to her for years. 773-3181.

Gallows grooming is great. I have a cock-a-poo and Ler does a better job with her than anyone in the states ever did!

Thank you everyone! I think I'll call Ler at Gallows Grooming since that's convenient to us - and she has poodle experience - you guys are awesome! 🙂

Be careful where you decide to go. I have a poodle and I told the groomer at (Gallow's Bay) that I wanted a puppy cut and they took all her hair off completely. What a disaster!...
