My husband and I just moved here with our Lab, she loves the water and wants to swim, we went to Lindquist Beach yesterday. It was fine but we live on West End are there any beaches that will allow her to play?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions. 🙂

...yesterday, but the response seems to have vanished.

Short answer: Hull Bay. If you want to discuss other alternatives, depending on what type of vehicle you have, e-mail me.

MsChuy - we lost a few post yesterday - we were moving the site to a new server. Sorry for the inconvience.

Missy for the west end - check out Brewers Bay maybe in the am or afternoon. Sundays are not a good idea as its used by families for picnics so there will be many people.
You could go down to Bordeaux Bay and Stumpy Bay, as MsChuy alluded to - depends on the car you have though, with Stumpy in particular. Hull Bay is a good choice its on the northside. Neltjeberg Bay is also in the northside - also depends on the car you have, last time I was there it was quite bumpy. Mandahl Bay on the northside... These are all local bays or quieter bays, some dirt roads.

If you talk to other dog owners they might share some other doggy friendly beaches. Also make sure to check out Barktober Fest on the 19th at Latitude 18, its a fundraiser for the humane society with dinner and prizes... contest for doggies - best trick, best costume...

Wow, time flies. It seem slike it was only, well...last year!

Missy, if you read this, how did you find Lindquist Beach? What day and time did you go? Were there others there? Other dogs? Been wanting to check it out but haven't made it yet. Thanks.

Onika - I can read the excitment in your post about the event!! 🙂 Maybe you can describe it from last years so that Missy can get a better picture of what it is about.

Lindquist busiest day is Sunday when there are picnics and bbqs. Weekdays its usually pretty sparsely populated. Its a really nice beach. Only negative I have is that there is often a lot of garbage along the road, on the opposite side from the beach, in the trees and parking areas. (I did a beach clean up there several years back and it was amazing the items collected - YUK!) More recently I haven't noticed as much garbage but still there was some. The beach itself is clean and water crystal clear, pretty good snorkeling to the left, long beach for walking.

Where have all the ads been for Barktoberfest? There was a lot more publicity last year...if not for this site I would never have known.

Anyhoo, we will be in attendance. Got there late last year and missed all the competitions and festivities. Hoping the weekend will be sunny...

Hello Onik'a,

Yes, there were other dogs at Lindquist beach. We went last Sunday about 3:00 pm.
There were four other dogs out that day and a big crowd of people so we did walk down the beach a little way just to make sure we wouldn't be in they way of the people enjoying the beach also. The other dogs did mingle with the people. We found Lindquist on a dirt road right before the entrance to Sapphire.

Please anyone with details on Barktober Fest please post.

Thanks!
