Almost all of them sell gas dryers, But they must be retrofited for propane instead of natural gas. I would suggest staying away from the kmart/sears store as there repair guy is in PR and they don't deliver and take away from for free and the wont change it from natural gas to propane for free either. But Carlos, best furniture, all thoughs guys will and you can usually negotiate as well.

We like Carlos, they have fair prices, deliver free and almost on time and the delivery guys and the owners are nice people.

We ordered one from Best Furniture and we like it very much. It has cut waaaay down on the electricity bill.

Be careful about synthetics, though. We singed a stuffed animal and lost a bed pad to the high heat of propane.

Hiiya is correct about gas vs propane: it is a simple matter to change the jets for propane from natural gas, just make sure it's set up for propane either from the factory or by the store.

Tammy (How DO you spell your name?),
Let us know where/what you get. I might be interested in making a change too.

Thanks everyone. We purchased a gas dryer from Best across from Plaza Extra East. I was happy with the price and excellent service. I had previously bought a gas stove in the states but did not install it until after we had lived here for two years. To our dismay we found that our gas stove could not be converted to propane. We went to Carlos and purchased a new stove and it was delivered. When the guys were installing it I was looking at the owners manual and it said, "cannot be converted to propane". We asked the delivery man to take it back to the store. It took many weeks to get our money refunded and the owner of Carlos said that it could be converted and he could sell us the conversion kit. We then asked him why he could not sell us the kit for our stove that we already had. He refused. When I was at best yesterday I told the gentleman helping me the story and he gave me a conversion kit for my stove and made an appointment for someone to come out and install it. He spent a great deal of time making phone calls to find out if my stove could be converted and what it would take to do so. Wow!! Even if it doesn't work that man went over and beyond to help me. I am very impressed.

Dixie, everyone I have talked to that has a gas dryer is very happy with them. I purchased it because I rented my cottage and the dryer is running constantly and I pay WAPA. Even with our solar we are going to have a hefty bill. The tenant pays for gas so it was a no brainer for me.

Juanita, I spell my name Tammy. It is confusing when you look at the name I post under. Doug is hubby, Tam is me, jj is our son. It looks like tamii when I post.

Is a dryer really necessary?

I haven't had a dryer for 7 years. Mother Nature does the job. Is air drying not possible in VI?

many, if not most people here air dry. Even those with dryers will air dry on sunny, breezy days. You have to be sure you have the space. And the time at home. I wouldn't leave clothes on the line here - showers come up too quickly.
