I agree with Cory....relax people! Respectful dialogue and opinion is so much more pleasant to read than bickering and personal attacks.
And I think your right, Simkiss, about the media exacerbating the economic problems by harping and magnifying them daily on the news. It puts fear into people and makes them more cautious to spend and invest.

It seems that we're arguing a matter of degrees. While you can argue about the quality and frequency of cruise ships passengers coming to the islands, I've noticed another indicator of more difficult times. Compared to a couple of months ago, there is an absence of cheap fares to the islands. Given that it's off season, that's almost counter intuitive.

My son and I will be flying down in June and the airfares have risen significantly. I checked flights from both FL and TX and they are up substantially. It would seem the airlines have more flexibility to pass on higher fuel prices than cruise ships. Getting back on topic, higher fares for me means less money to consume on the islands. I think it all adds up.

You will find in June and July stt and stj's hotels will be full. And since American has no real competation they can get away with it. Until its starts to get rainy in August or Sept, and the real hurricane season starts it will most likely be expensive to get here or get off. I recommend that all new comers sign up for an advantage credit card and use it to pay for everything so they can get the flyer miles. It will really help with costs coming and going.

We are well-booked for June & July at the Buccaneer. We fall off at the middle/end of August as kids go back to school and pick up again at Thanksgiving and, of course Christmas. We are also in the happy position(?) of hosting the Hurricane Hunters, when necessary.

Gee Linda, form the movie "Twister" with Helen Hunt I thought that they all lived in their trucks and vans. Sounds like they live pretty good. LOL 🙂

Terry, Terry, Terry -- you're thinking about Tornado hunters!! But what would you know about tornados or hurricanes in Arizona? Right now I'm in Kentucky, where is it is cold and rainy. Can't wait to get home!

I bad. 🙂
I'm stuck here in AZ, but the weather is good. Highs in the low to mid 90's. Perfect.

Well that's true, the dew point is at 13*. The swamp coolers work well until the dew point gets to 55*.
