DLCA Division of Licensing what do they look for?

You introduced "expeditors" for "car stuff" into the conversation. I responded. I've been introduced to quite a few "expeditors" in my years here. Most of them start the conversation with, "I know a guy..." Palms in all branches of government get greased here. You know this to be true, don't you?

I know exactly what I said, I'm aware that shady expediters exist but I've never dealt with them and would never recommend them as I prefer to deal with licensed professionals. It was you who lumped together all expediters under a festering blanket, not I! Many such go-betweens have been caught over the years, along with the government employees whose palms have been greased and it's an ongoing issue whether making the news or not. And it's certainly not a practice endemic to the USVI!

The owner of a Jeep I bought on STT proudly declared that it hadn't been inspected in 15 years. She simply paid her "expeditor" who'd come back with an inspection sticker. The Jeep never left her driveway.

That has nothing to do with DCLA and business licenses which are not a "walk-through" by any stretch either with or without an expediter.

It has everything to do with "expeditors" - regardless of what they are expediting.

I'm unsure what else I should I have assumed based on your response to mine Seemed pretty clear cut to me. I'm not losing sleep, so no worries.:D

There was a time when this site was a good one and everyone looked out for everybody else and good advice was given to potential newbies. As Alexandra has noted, it started to take a downward slide a few years ago when the nasty bickering started up. I recently re-registered simply because I started to see some misinformation being tossed around and, since I was now "sort of" retired, had more time to speak out on things I just happen to know about as a longtime resident who's been through thick and thin.

Maybe my approach isn't always as diplomatic as it should be but I reserve my major diplomacy for the various visitors' forums which I subscribe to. On this site which deals with relocation and local issues irrelevant to visitors, a little more latitude is obviously given. But the bickering has once again started up, name-calling is apparently acceptable and contrary opinions are met with derision. I'm really not sufficiently thick-skinned to slough off with aplomb personal attacks from either newbies or potential newbies so I'll take a break for now and hover. Maybe the general tone will soon change for the better. If I've contributed to the nasty bickering, my apologies. Mea culpa!

......I suggest that if you need further pointers you call the ferry operator and ask them to put a large sign on the vessel'sprow with your name on it. Don't let the gangplank gate hit you on your way out of St Thomas and may you enjoy a wonderful vacation devoid of any more such huge problems. Good grief.....
