Digital Video Recorders STT?
Does anybody sell them here? If so, who? Been to Radio Shack and Boolchand's. Thanks!
Did you try K-Mart, Office Max, etc.?
I'll check KMart. I've never seen them advertised.
None at little KMart or Choice in Nisky. Innovative mentions them on some ad so will call them tomorrow.
Will I have to settle for a screen/vcr combo?????
Did you also try Royal Caribbean?
Thanks, Islander, I'll check Royal Caribbean. Innovative had them in an ad I saw somewhere, so will call them today.
I may have to resort.to.vhs recording.
I don't recall ever seeing standalone DVRs for sale locally. You would have to order from an online retailer, or subscribe to either Innovative or Dish Network and user their equipment. I have Dish & use their DVRs extensively to record movies, series & events, and have no complaints.
I bought one here in STT but cannot remember where purchased as it was 3-4 yrs. ago.
Get a Hopper! Hands down the most advanced DVR you can get. More cool features soon. Like wireless Joey, Super Joey...

They have pretty much stopped selling DVR's since most of your cable/Dish carriers are offering DVR's with their packages for like $15.00 a month extra. I own two DVR's that I have had for about 5-6 years, but now are about worthless to me since Xfinity/Comcast started offering their DVR packages and screwed up the cable to where now you have to either have their digital box or an adapter in order to view their cable channels. This causes you to only be able to record a program that you are actually watching and not have the ability to record one channel while watching another like I used to be able to do. So good luck finding one.
Thanks, everyone. I may have found one on Craigslist.
The problem with DVRs these days is that most providers of programming have gone to HD. I am not aware of any DVR which will record HD via an HDMI, DVI or Component Input. This means that you have to use a DVR which is integrated with the programming providers Set Top Box or if on Cable then one which supports CableCard.
This has the effect of forcing us to use inferior DVRs. For instance the DVR which Dish integrates into its set top boxes is very much inferior to TIVO.
Thanks, roto, but I'm not that picky, and I'm mostly interested in recording morning talk shows. I can get all the other content elsewhere. I just want to do basic recording of a few shows to watch later. Very old school and low tech!
Tivo records in HD, but not sure that one can be bought on STT. Might have to order from the states for someone looking for that.

There is no way to connect a TIVO to record in HD if your programming provider is Dish Network. If your programming provider is Innovative then a CableCARD might be available.
