I know someone who is renting their apartment to someone from Exon and was told they are also renting over 50 cars. I have been skeptical but it sounds like something is happening - what that is....time will tell.
The lots at the airport aren't empty. It doesn't look like the 50 cars were picked up.
Well, the refinery used to do the car rentals throughout the island and most of the time they preferred using Centerline and Antilles Leasing... Both are convenient because of the proximity to Gate #2 and the refinery in general...
Well, the refinery used to .

"DeJongh hemmed and based on radio about not having a buyer nor a reopen date."
What does this sentence mean? I don't understand what you're trying to say. Please clarify.
I am trying to say that deJongh' "five anxious buyers" in August was B.S. And he is trying to keep the choir dangling and hoping and believing in him and his deals. Not the literal "Ides of April", but a reference to another failed deadline, the last one being "March",
The St. Eustacius acquisition confirms my suspicion: they are only interested in storage, not refining. What date will you move the goal post to? December? After the election. Go ahead and vote for more of the same and hope to get a different outcome. Sanes could not be reached for comment.
What St. Eustacius acquisition?

They are not looking to re-invent the wheel... Regardless of who it is that decides (if ever) to buy the place, will be DIRECTED to use local rental companies like the ones I mentioned and not the usual national companies like Avis, etc... The site is not permitted to deplete the inventory of vehicles at the airport...That is the way of the world and Hovensa is not exempt...The same applies to housing, which is not a major issue as the site has plenty of space in their estates... A friend of mine is a contractor and is housed on site even when he is just a contractor...
There are also several things I know about that I will not and can't share on this board... all I can say is I worked in Hovensa until it closed for just over 5 years... Also, there are several persons I am acquainted with that ARE currently employed at the site and that I still stay in touch with...
All I will say is that a few companies have approached Hess Oil... that is it...
Feel free to swim with all the rumors...
What St. Eustacius acquisition?
Not an acquisition and not Hess but I suspect she is referring to this

Yep. I just wanted to see if she realized that she was (again) spreading misinformation.

so.....with out Exxon.... yeah, my newly polished resume is going to waste; damn the rumor mill!

Seriously!? I am the one with misinformation?! The real misinformation was that Hovensa was going to announce a sale in March. And then on April 23. And before that "five anxious buyers...
This link I am posting is for Pinnacle VI. They do a lot of the hiring for the refinery (and other industries in the VIs) and they are in charge of doing the basic training required to enter the Hovensa site. Pinnacle is directly connected to the Houston Safety Council network. All new hires ARE required to take the training there. If the refinery were to re-open, you will likely find jobs posted there... Anyone interested can use their site as a reference with regards to the future of Hovensa, plus of course, can be used for those looking for jobs, mostly in STX.
As of this morning, the only job posted is for Diageo...
Obviously Pinnacle isn't going to post jobs until an announcement is made.

I never said they would post the jobs beforehand... It is only a reference... I am only trying to help as it is a link for someone looking for a job...
Everything written on these boards gets over analyzed, criticized, etc... Not a problem, I will just stop posting and limit myself to reading and laughing at others posts...
Don't stop posting Rowdy! I was just making an observation...

that got over analyzed and internalized... the internet is probably one of the best (video), and worst (text) ways to communicate.
We love you Rowdy802!

Careful Rowdy, they will eat you alive on this blog if you even hint or acknowledge the possibility that the refinery will not open.
Tic...Toc...Tic...Toc...Tic...Toc...Tic...Toc...Tic...Toc...Tic...Toc...
Many on stx desperately need the work that hovensa could offer. It's not surprising that some are more hopeful than is realistic.
Avis has nothing
Interesting headline on today's Daily News front cover...buyers lined up...inspections taking place. Stay tuned...announcement imminent.
like buying a house ...on a grander scale. the inspection has sunk a lot of house purchases

I skipped my home inspection.... it was a terrible idea... haha

Hi.. I am still here everyday... I read the threads twice a day... I remain cautiously optimistic... I couldn't get the VI Daily News and they have nothing about in online...
The Pinnacle link could be useful for anybody looking for a job... If an official announcement comes out about the refinery, Pinnacle is an option... However, when applying for a job, I would always go to their office and show my ugly face... which is usually the way thing only work out... They may post prior to an announcement but, yes, more likely a few days after is how it will happen...

I am just cautiously optimistic... I am just speaking to someone inside Hovensa as I write this message...
