Development Protests Need Registered Voters
The senators have 2 years to represent the people so are sometimes more responsive to registered voters. This time, Mandahl Bay wants you to contact the senators to oppose the development.
Many times they check to see if petitioners are registered voters to see if it's in his/her interest to act on a petition or letter.
Here is an article from the Source.

When development threatened, again, in 2009, there was a huge outcry to protect this bay and CZM denied their permit.
Volunteer divers documented the various endangered and threatened species of corals in that bay.
Since then, NOAA has added several species to that list which are found in the bay.
As noted in Sharon Hupprich's letter, "the U.S. Federal Government deeded this acreage and more to the Municipality of St. Thomas and St. John (as it was then known) they set restrictions on the gift.
The property was conveyed for ‘educational and other related community purpose only...’
"This area is a 1993 designated Area of Particular Concern (APC) and Area for Preservation and Restoration."
How on earth with these restrictions and designations, not to mention the unsuitability of this location for a marina and fueling station, could Gov. Dejongh presume to lease this land for a development project of this magnitude, much less to a company that has a history of lawsuits for bank fraud, mortgage fraud, and hiding assets from creditors???
I hope that concerned citizens in St. Thomas, St. Croix, St. John and Water Island will use their voices and contact our Senators, Gov. Elect Mapp and CZM to deny this massive and unwelcomed project.
