Designer Sale to Benefit Local Agencies/STT
The Lucky Paws Foundation is gearing up for a designer party with a singular mission this weekend at Yacht Haven Grande.
"It's a great opportunity to update your wardrobe and home decor with retail therapy," said Dellia Holodenschi, Lucky Paws president. The sale will feature "gently-used" designer fashions, shoes, bags and accessories, or perhaps a teakwood bird for your home.
The "Designer Sale Party" will be held Friday at the YHG esplanade from 5 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The sale has a serious purpose, however. Holodenschi, long a community animal activist, said proceeds would benefit not only the Lucky Paws Foundation and the Humane Society of St. Thomas, but also the Family Resources Center, a not-for-profit agency providing shelter, counseling and education for victims of domestic violence.
"We're all working for the same thing," Holodenschi said Thursday while sorting the piles of fancy clothing that's been donated. "We are all organizations that fight abuse in any shape or form."
"It is well-documented that many people who grow up to abuse others, physically or mentally, have a history of animal abuse as children,” Holodenschi said. “We want to support the Family Resource Center in this fight."
Holodenschi said clothing can still be dropped off at Bella Vera Boutique, which is owned by Morgan Brandenberg. "She's really pitched in, and so has Patricia LeCorte who owns Fresh and Grande Cru here. Patricia is setting up a bar, and using her staff to man it," Holodenschi said. "Now that's community spirit."
Holendenschi can be contacted at 513-1854.
