On STX, as anywhere else, it's difficult to get an appointment as a new patient. I tried Dr. Kenses years ago, and when he couldn't take me, they suggested Dr. Buska, who practices with Dr. K. I really like him, but NOW it's getting almost impossible to get an appointment, even as a patient.

Dr. Van Heckman takes emergency patients on Fridays and seems to be a little easier to get in. My husband goes to him and doesn't have to wait as long for an appt., and he likes him.

So...here's a tip for the day....if you are new on island, and plan to go to a dentist here, go ahead and make an appointment MONTHS before you plan to actually need it. Then you won't be scrambling around trying to find a dentist you can get into when you do need him/her. Also, once you have the appointment, it seems to be easier to change it when it gets close to the day.
