Dental hygiene jobs
Hi I was wondering if anyone knows if there if there is a high demand for dental hygienists on stt? I am in dental school and am planning on moving there when I graduate. Any help would be appreciated.
Hello amyj,
Considering there aren't all that many dental offices on St. Thomas I'd take a guess and say that there isn't a very high demand. Again thats a guess, and it doesn't mean you won't find a job ;).
What you might do is keep an eye on the job listings in the STT newspaper. Monster.com sometimes has job openings for the USVI posted there, so you could try that. And pull up the yellow pages for the USVI at www.viphonebook.com and check out the dental offices. Perhaps call them up, fax your resume, consider coming down to check things out, follow up with the offices you contacted, interview etc. You can also check out job options around where you are at now. That way if STT doesn't work out immediately when you graduate you can work there, get more experience, and continue scouting out the options here in STT until you find something.
All the best with your studies and your plans!

Thank you Islander for your reply. I have a lot of bartending experience and have heard that there are many bartending jobs available. I figured if it came down to it I could just do that until I found a dental job. We are coming for a pmv in June and I am very excited. Thanks again for your help.
What have you discovered so far? My husband is a nurse and we are contemplating traveling to the USVI within the next year and I wanted to work as a hygienist also while we are there.
Thanks for the input.
