Dengue fever
"the pit of despair".
EGADS! That's not encouraging!
It wasn't an answering machine, Jumbie. The phone was answered promptly. That's what I was told by a living, breathing person in the ER . When I put the phone down, I couldn't stop laughing!
The fact that you can laugh is a good sign. I guess you'd have to laugh or cry after hearing that "tomorrow might be a better day for an emergency." Unbelievable!!
Hope you get this under control soon.
Woops -- no message machine but an actual live person gave you (Aussie) that response is even more pathetic!!. As I said B-4 --remember these words --" the pit of despair".
Jumbie
Pathetic? Yeah...perhaps so. It's also one of the 3 funniest things I've heard in these islands and just so descriptive of island life. The police telling me to leave cookies on the seat so the bad guys would stop busting up my truck was also plainly hysterical in a sad and tragic kinda way. The funniest of all, I'll just sit on because it will the the title of my book about living in the islands if I get around to it.
Aussie,
How are you, dear? Thought of you this morning as I had to take hubby to the ER here in STT (three broken ribs - a whole other story) and there were three people there for dengue blood tests. Noticed dengue warning fliers on the ER desks.
Thinking of you.
Pamela
3 broken ribs? Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that, Pamela! Broken ribs are extremely painful and treatment is usually little more than just taping the chest and meds for the pain. I wish you and your hubby the best.
This is one tenacious infection. As of yesterday, I was still losing ground. This morning, there are signs of marked improvement. I'm cautiously.hopeful.
Best wishes.
Heck, they dont even tape them any more. It's here the pain meds now go home and be immobile. 🙂 He' got serious pain meds and doesn't seem to care about much of anything right now. YAY!
Aussie, how are you this afternoon?
Pamela
PS - thanks Juanita and all of you who have sent PM's. This decline in hubby's health is the hardest thing I have ever had to deal with. Being an aging hippie this is entirely way too much reality for me.
Pamela, you might try an ace bandage wrapped tightly, but not too tightly, around him. Have him exhale as you wrap it. Even taking a deep breath is intensely painful. The bandage will also help to absorb any shock if he bumps into anything. This is not medical advice - just advice from experience so perhaps it's best to check with your doctor. From what you've posted in the past, your hubby couldn't be in more capable and loving hands. Best to you both!
I have to measure my progress morning to morning. It's always a downhill slide during the day.
Thanks! I don't really want to wrap him as I would prefer he do NOTHING for a couple of days and he is on heavy duty pain meds.
Loving hands - oh yes - capable I am not sure of!
Pamela
Pamela all you can do is the best you can do. Can any of us help? Taking care of terminal ill is very hard. We are here for you.
Aussie, I hope you are feeling better. We had a major bad scare with JJ and dengue. He had the intense headache, body aches, stomach cramps, body aches, high fever, fatigue and rash. Finally his fever broke but the doctor told us to watch for bleeding gums and stool. I have done nothing but watch that child 24/7. Today he said, "Can I just please go to school?" He seems all better now and went to school today.
Whew!!!
Pamela, let us know if we can help.
Tam
MAWH, you guys make me almost wish I was on STX! thanks!
