Definitive list of online retailers who ship to USVI

If shipped from Taiwan one should expect to pay duty.
If made in Taiwan but shipped from a mainland U.S. retailer, then there should be no duty charges. As those have already been paid once if required.
But then Customs on island seems to operate with their own agenda different then on the mainland.
Especially when it comes to bringing your registered vehicle in from mainland U.S.

Domestications too!
You guys are more daring than me! What I do is CONTACT them and explain that we are US Territory and that it is no differant than shipping anywhere in the continental US! Usually, tho not allways, they will ship to me!
Then theres the NO PO BOXES issue!
Life in da Islands! 🙂

Here are a few more:
www.linensource.com
CasualLivingUSA.com
www.gty.org (Grace To You Ministries- sends books, Cd's)
www.OrientalTrading.com (party supplies/toys)
www.Butterflyphoto.com (electronics)
www.Christianbooks.com

Overstock.com sends me flyers for 10% of my next purchase about once a month, but they won't ship merchandise here. DUH

Sometimes I order stuff from here and have it sent to my house in LA and when I visit there I put it in my suitcase and bring it back.

I also pick up cases of crayons and glue from Walmart in Baton Rouge and bring them back here in my suitcase and give them to the local schools. In June and July, crayons are $ .15 a 24/pkg and 4 oz. bottles of glue are $ .20 each, scissors are $ .50, etc. I know, I am a little eccentric. My husband tells me I'm crazy all the time. That's ok. Normal is boring.

I know there was some discussion about Sears. I just received an e-mail from them about a special delivery program called "ShipVantage." You pay $79 per year and get free standard shipping or reduced rate 2-day or express shipping on "mailable" products only. It mentions that standard shipping is not available to territories, but it might be for the 2-day or express. Here's the bit in the "terms and conditions" that talks about it. Perhaps you folks on island are better at deciphering this stuff, since you're used to interpreting all the ins and outs of deliveries.

Eligible Purchases
This program is limited to eligible items that can be shipped via USPS, UPS or FedEx sold by Sears and Kmart on the Sites that are shipped to continental United States addresses, excluding Alaska, Hawaii, P.O. boxes, APO/FPO and U.S. territories, and possessions. Though Two-Day and Express shipping benefits do not apply to these excluded addresses, members are entitled to free Standard shipping on eligible items shipped to P.O. boxes in the continental U.S. and APO/FPO addresses with U.S. zip codes. At our sole discretion, We may exclude products including, for example, oversize or heavy items, items regulated as hazardous materials, alcohol, appliances, fitness equipment, and other items with special shipping characteristics. Products are eligible for the Program only if designated as qualified on the Site. Products sold by third parties or through third-party web sites are NOT eligible for the Program.

Here's the website for ShipVantage:

Gerie,
Sure sounds to me like we are excluded, but it is written a little awkwardly, so not sure.

If any of ya'll on St. Croix need something from the states (something SMALL) email me and I'll try to pick it up for you in Baton Rouge when I go in June. Favorite candy you can't find here or something like that. I made my daughter a huge mermaid cake for her birthday last year and her scales were made of different colored Neccos. Couldn't find 'em ANYWHERE here, right? So my son was coming home from college for a visit and brought me about 20 big rolls and the next week I found 'em at Gallows Bay Hardware of all places. We laughed and laughed. And black licorice for her eyelashes were there too. I love Gallows Bay Hardware!

Neccos!!!

Never really ate them but boy does that name bring back memories of walking around Cambridge, MA as a youngster (visiting relatives and while in college) smelling the sweet air coming from the Necco factory! 🙂 🙂 🙂

I was wondering the same thing, Juanita! I had some a few years back from a trip to Europe & by the next trip they rotted. Ya gotta keep them in the refrigerator if you want them to last.

Leggs Hanes Bali has mens and womens casual wear, underwear and t shirts and stuff. They have good close outs and clearance items. They probably don't ship much pantyhose down here.

You can add www.homedecorators.com to the list. I've been delighted with everything that I have ordered stateside from them. When talking with costumer service she did mention that they do ship large items, but not all of them, depends on the individual manufacturer. Great stuff! I'll be placing my order within the next day or two and will get back as to how bad the shipping costs will be and how limited I was on ordering any larger items.

http://www.tigerdirect.com

now ships to the usvi via usps. They recently acquired Compusa and part of the merger included a usps shipping method option. this is wonderful news to those of us who need electronics here. I've averaged $100 per shipment cost savings with usps over any other method.

Good find and I wasn't aware they had consumed CompUSA.

I checked their prices on smaller items and for these (e.g., Garmin Nuvi unit) they seem to be consistently significantly more expensive than say Abe's of Maine. However I think their shipping cost for large items (like larger flat screens) are lower than Abe's. I'll have to add them to my favorites and cross-shop whenever I buy electronics in the future.

Thanks.
