December ferry to Santo Domingo, DR
Hi,
I have a friend who is wondering if the ferry from STT to Santo Domingo, DR will be here this December. She said, in the past, this ferry will run during the month to take all the passengers from her to DR since there are alot of people here from DR. Please let me know if anyone knows about this so that I can advise her.
Thanks!

Pgirl: There is no ferry to the DR- they have to fly. The water between the DR and PR is extremely rough and dangerous. You would definitely not want to be in a boat!
I have never heard of such a ferry.
I haven't heard of such a ferry but if it exists, I wouldn't eat for several days before traveling and still expect to be hanging over the railing the entire trip!
it's much more likely that there is an occasional ferry that runs from the west coast of Puerto Rico across the channel to the DR. Even that crossing could be rough in smaller watercraft.
Are you sure it is the DR, or the Island of Dominica? If memory serves, on occasion boats from Dominica bring produce to St. Thomas harbor and may take folks back.
From the west cost of PR to DR, three times a week, 12 hour trip about $163RT

OMG, in the Mona Passage on a ferry for 12 hours! I cannot imagine.
Thanks, all,
My apologies...I misunderstood my friend (she speaks broken English and my Spanish is TERRIBLE). She was wondering about the ferry from PR to DR, not STT. Thanks for the info, Jeff...
