If you pass by the airport this afternoon you will see a dead horse with a bloody ankle laying there. I'm not sure what exactly happened and I don't want to start rumors from what I have heard. I know one thing though, this is the perfect thing for a tourist to see leaving the airport. Another good job st.croix!

Maybe you should try contacting the authorities about it as a start?

Guess they will use the weekend as the excuse. Should be inexcusable. I am sure public works could have gotten to it. Hope tomorrow.

Dept of Agriculture takes care of this, probably not open on Sunday. I would guess it was hit by a car; used to be very common on STX when the horses had free run.

Unfortunately you're absolutely right - on STX it did used to be quite common. As for the poster who said it was heard that the horse was "beat to death" maybe you should bite your tongue and not pass around unfounded rumor as it serves no good purpose at all. (td)

It was not hit by a car - that is certain. This horse met it's end at the hands of humans.

I agree. It has a bloody bandaged ankle wrapped up. This horse was put down.

How does the fact that it has an injured wrapped "ankle" determine that it was put down or "beat to death"? Just curious.

Usually a horse if they break a leg they are put down. They don't HAVE to be put down, but the alternatives are cruel (to the horse) and tedious, drawn-out, and expensive (for the owner).

Source: I've owned horses for over 20 years in the states.

A bandaged "ankle" signifies a break? Source: I was a professional horsewoman for many years.

The removal involves a front loader to pick up the horse and a truck to carry it away; sometimes they just cover it in lye/lime and let nature take it's course, sometimes they bury it where it fell.

Lets stop all the speculation now--unless you were a witness, you have no idea what happened

1. Cruz wins for best meme use I've seen in a long time here.
2. It really is too bad that horse still has not been removed. I cannot imagine this happening anywhere else. How long do you think that horse would sit outside the airport in Hawaii?
