Day sail business opportunity
I'm kicking around the idea of putting my sailboat into some kind of a daysail business.
What I would be looking for is a USCG licensed captain who would be willing to develop this as his/her own business and work it as such.
It's a 30' Beneteau and can comfortably take on 6 people.
The boat can also be used by the captain as a liveaboard situation.
I'd be glad to discuss more details with interested parties.
I would consider this an opportunity for a captain looking to work daysails in the USVI but w/o means to buy their own boat. A captain in this kind of situation becomes more of a partner in the business as opposed to a mere hired hand.
The details of this arrangement are yet to be negotiated and will almost surely vary depending on the qualifications and expertise of each individual. For those reasons, please email me your inquiries.
I don't get to sail her as much as I would want and I don't want to sell her, so this is the next best thing!
Most popular questions I've gotten so far:
"Any initial investment?" No.
"How do I make money?" Income from the business would be split in some fashion between us, minus whatever expenses we incur. That split is negotiable and depends on the qualifications, ability and skill sets of the individual.
"I don't know the legal part regarding setting up such a business." I do.
"Where is the boat now?" Cruz Bay, St. John.
"Would this be full time?" I don't expect it would. As with any business, the more work you put into it the better the result. But I would almost expect anyone interested in this position could easily hold down another captain job or any other kind of job with a semi-flexible schedule. As long as you are able to take off when we book a charter, you should be fine.
If I get any other questions repeatedly I'll post them up here.
Would I consider a "couple" for this?
Sure, why not. The boat sleeps 6 and has a comfortable V-Berth that can sleep two.
"Can I relocate the boat to St. Thomas?"
Possibly. I live on St. John and I'd probably want her here unless there was a very good reason for moving her to STT. Let's say you had access to a slip in a marina and wanted to keep her there. That's a pretty good reason.
