I'm back on island for the winter (have a one way ticket this time, so who knows how long) & am finding lots of dancing just like I did in the summer. There is so much fun music here, I'm always amazed. I checked on dance lessons & was told that salsa lessons will be taught in Christiansted in Jan. Has anyone heard of dance lessons starting or know where I can find out?

I was also told there is a ballroom dance group that meets at Cheeseburgers but the person was not able to tell me who to contact. Anyone familiar with this group?

I'm not sure about any of what you mentioned, but have you tried Zumba? Its a "workout" but many of the routines are based on basic dance steps and are usable in the real world... and its fun too!

The Caribbean Dance Company in C'sted at the corner of Hill and Church has adult dance classes. I know. I live in the area and have to listen to them. The little ballet girls in tutus I LOVE, but the adults dancing to The Dave Matthews Band's "Too Much" for MONTHS AND MONTHS AND MONTHS AND MONTHS on end (you know who you are) ... well, let's just say it was a little "too much". Haven't heard it lately, though, so maybe they've added some variety to their routines. In any event, I'm sure they could give you more information on adult STX dance events/classes/programs.

thx, I'll check out the Caribbean Dance Company. I tried zumba, but spent the whole time trying to figure out what the instructor was doing because she moved from one "move" to another so fast we couldn't keep up. At least I couldn't 🙂
I prefer dancing with a partner anyway. There is nothing quite so nice as moving to music in the arms of a partner!

I would never have been able to keep up with zumba if I hadn't used the DVD's first. The basic DVD breaks each step down for you...after some practice with the DVDs (in private! Thank goodness!) something finally clicked and I got the hang of it! The DVDs are really good--I highly recommend them.
