Does someone know how early the airport opens? For example, for the 7am flight to PR, what time should one arrive?

They open the gates to TSA and Customs at 6:30. What 7 am flight? Thought it was 7:20 EE.

Not too long along ago I knew of someone who had the very early flight out of STX. I told her the airport didn't open that early, so she didn't get there 2 hours early, as she had been told. Well....they didn't let her luggage on. What a mess!!! Ask the airline what time to be there.

The airline counter is open by 5:45. Just you can't get into Customs until 6:30.

Ronnie, actually CBP opens the doors at 0600.

Will double check that for sure. I have seen the doors closed and people waiting in line after 6.

i saw a plane leaving today at 6:45am. I presume it was private?

The control towers on STX & STT open at 7AM. The procedure for landing or taking off when the tower isn't manned is you squawk on the tower frequency so any other planes in the area are aware that someone else is planning on landing or taking off.

Well, I'll tell ya, from personal experience, if you get there at 6:30 for the 7:05 PR flight, you will not get on.... American says they open at 5:00am. Now, I plan NEVER to go through Puerto Rico again in my life, if I don't have to, but...
