CVS.com changed shipping method
I ordered a huge order from cvs.com when they had a 25% off sale and it has been more than three weeks and it's still not here. I looked over the shipping conformation a little closer to discover they used UPS to ship. Which means, UPS picks it up, waits about 5 days, gets it to USPS and then it goes Parcel Post.
I sent an email to customer service about how upset I was that they changed ship methods without any kind of notification and asked them to reship the order they way they have been doing for the last 10 years and many thousands of dollars of my orders and they said they can only ship UPS. RATS!!! I guess this will knock them down on the 'places who ship to the VI' list. Many of the things that one would order from cvs.com are not the kind of things you can wait up to 10 weeks for.
That's so irritating! If this happened to me, I'd follow up with a phone call to the company and ask for a supervisor at customer service. Let us know what happens. Sometimes companies treat us like we're on the moon.
But, now WalMart is shipping here. I paid $10 and got my order (to Red Hook Mail Center -- we know how slow those ladies can be!) within 10 days.
Just started using drugstore.com - you need to upgrade the shipping to the $9.99 method (give or take) and then it arrives via USPS Priority. So far I have been pleased - after a lot of research I just started using coconut oil (since the info re: coconut oil might help to prevent alzheimer's along with it's many other uses) and they shipped me 3 x 32oz Organic Pure Extra Virgin jars of Coconut Oil at a cost of $23.00 each vs the $49 each in STT !!!

My last CVS order was shipped march 3rd. It arrived this past Saturday. Two calls to CVS about the order and was basically told it takes longer to ship here. My previous orders always arrived within 10 days. I have ordered from Walmart, but their orders took even longer.

Pia: I would be very careful about the claims re:coconut oil- see snopes, for example: http://www.snopes.com/medical/disease/coconutoil.asp. Coconut oil is full of saturated fat, which is not good for cardiovascular health and by extension, cerebrovascular health. Keep your skeptic's hat on!;)
My experiences with Walmart are hit or miss. Sometimes it goes USPS Priority, some times it goes FedEx SmartPost (or what I call stupidPost). You can never tell which way it's going to go. I usually only use them for things I can wait several months for.
The cvs thing really ticks me off. I bought HUGE because of the sale. Now my little guy is out of diapers, and they are a fortune on St. John, and who knows when the 'mother load' of diapers from CVS are going to show up. I also bought a lot of food items. A ton of hard candy (for my store) that will likely be a gooey mess when it gets here. sigh
I tried customer service email, and one phone call with no luck. But I know sometime it's the luck of the draw on who you get, so I am going to try again. And try to leave out the comments in ALL CAPS. 🙂
i use drugstore.com and i only had one issue with the items i ordered not arriving, they shipped out another order right away and i got it in a week. i usually get the free shipping with them.
I will check out drugstore.com Thanks for the info. I ordered from them a few times in the years past and shipping was always a problem. Sounds like they have things figured out now.
Also happened to me Julie - ordered from them and took 5 weeks to arrive. I did call them and they re-shipped everything for free (items and shipping) and eventually both showed up 🙂 I ordered a few weeks ago and "upgraded" to the overnight shipping/expedited shipping (something like that) for I believe $9 and it arrived Priority in 7 days.

We always try to shop as locally as possible. Not only does this make us less dependent on the Big Box chain stores far away, but helps local businesses thrive. But, good luck, hope things work out for you.
i-man: That is a nice sentiment, but there are all sorts of items you cannot find here that are only available in the big ole USA....
also, a lot of the items are cheaper at drugstore.com than here and if you get free shipping on top of that....
I understand about supporting local economy, but on St. John, things like diapers are very expensive and you cannot buy in bulk. If I go to STT, I can get in bulk, BUT, they are more expensive, I have to pay for the car barge, and it takes at least half a day. And there are many itmes that I just can't find anywhere on STJ or STT. The money that I have saved using CVS.com has been spent at St. John restaurants. I love to go out to eat 🙂
After I sat down and wrote another email to cvs.com, the bulk of my cvs order showed up. Still waiting for part of it, but the really important stuff came. My comparisons on drugstore.com came out quite a bit higher than cvs.com 🙁 Does drugstore.com have sitewide sales like cvs.com does? That is the only way it would make the $9.99 shipping upgrade, and 99¢ per pound over 10lbs worth it for me.
they do have sales and i can not recall having ever paid for shipping
If you don't upgrade to the Express shipping... will it come Priority Mail still?? The $9.99 charge is for Express shipping. And there is a 99¢ per pound surcharge for anything over 10lbs as far as I can tell.
the last time i bought from them, i spent more than $25 and got free shipping. i hope they did not change the shipping methods. i do not upgrade and usually get my order in a week.
The free shipping from Drugstore.com takes at least a month to six weeks. They don't prioritize shipping out your order, and then it goes Parcel Post. Been my experience every time, unfortunately. Sometimes I spring for the $9.99 shipping, and that's always come Priority.
The good news is, I have found Drugstore.com has much more variety than CVS of the things I shop for, generally lower prices, and I often get lucky with sales. They make it easy to use their rebate program, too -- you get a certain amount of money to use "off" your next order every quarter. CVS does that too with the ExtraCare card, but you have to remember to look for the discount, whereas Drugstore will do it automatically.
Sorry to hear CVS has changed its policy, but thank you for letting us know!! Hope nobody was getting their prescriptions from them.
fdr, sorry you have had it take so long from drugstore. i guess i have been lucky in that it normally takes about a week with the free shipping.

On St John it's almost always cheaper to buy inferior products on St John, shop on St Thomas or shop online. Buying good quality (if available) on St John always cost more. But, thanks to those who support local businesses who sell quality.
I did a small order on drugstore.com for non essential, but bulky items (a bunch of paper towels), and received free standard shipping. I just got the shipping conformation... FedEx Smart Post. So that means it will sit at FedEx until they take it to the USPS where it will then proceed Parcel Post. I'm going to try another order with standard shipping, something I don't need right away, and something not so big and see what happens.
i have never bought paper towels and such on line, are they that much cheaper at drugstore.com
They are cheaper than they are on St. John. But I think they are about the same price as Cost U Less on STT.
I placed another small order on drugstore.com, smaller items, and just got the shipping conformation, it went FedEx Smart Post too. So it looks like you have to upgrade like piaa said to the Express shipping.
I just ordered from drugstore.com. I found the prices, selection and convenience to be good. Thanks to the tips in the postings above, I paid the $9.99 extra for USPS Priority Mail. I ordered 12 various items to make it worthwhile. I ordered on Tue 5/1, they shipped the same day, and I got it today (Tue 5/8).
good job to drugstore.com
