Hello,
What kind of paperwork do I need once I get my household goods and cars to St Croix for customs?
Thanks,

Call your shipping company. They can provide you with a list of exactly what you shall need to clear customs for your goods and vehicla and it what order. Get an early start or it will take more than a day to complete, depending on lines at the various places you shall have to go including paying customs duties which is dependent on make of car, paying road tax, getting moving permit and your car back to inspection lane/DMV and paying for new title and registration all before 2:30PM. If you are still paying on your car stateside, you'll need a notorized release as well.

Take lots of cash as No stateside checks accepted and sometimes no local checks at DMV due to the many bounced checks they used to get.

Customs requires you to have an itemized bill of lading (I was told every pot, pan, plate...), we were assured by our shipper we would not need it! Upon arrival found out otherwise. They would not clear the container without it.

You'll need the title for the vehicles in order to get insurance, pay the road tax, and to register at the DMV.

For the moving permit at the DMV, it is only valid for 24 hours, but you can talk them into writing it on the date that will work for you, especially when you have two vehicles...

IRB and DMV accept credit cards.

So, what did you have to do to get the container cleared?

Show up with a detailed packing list. Which I did the next morning.
