I am interested in moving to your Island and I would like to know if it is hard for a hispanic woman coming from the U.S. to find work on the Island and affordable housing. I am in the field of Human Service and Journalism.

Are there many other hispanic's or Black American's living on the Island?

How would you say that women in the VI differ from African American women in the U.S.?

Are they as traditional and ultra feminine as the women from my country?

What is the tradition of people in the VI?

Is it expensive to live there?

i am curious about my heritage...my mami is a native of Christiansted but I never got to visit her people and never got to learn as much as I wanted to about her home. I am of Colombian, Puerto Rican and West Indian descent, but know little about the West Indian side of me.

Thanks for any info.

Se bendecido (be blessed)

There are a lot of Puerto Ricans and Dominicans on St. Croix, the island is probably 30% Hispanic if I had to hazard a guess. There is no definite percentage on the amount of Hispanics because a lot of the Hispanics are also Black so there no definite line separating Blacks and Hispanics.

Yes, I would say that West Indian women in the VI are different from African American women in general, but because I'm a guy, I'll let someone else further answer your question about that.

About your questions on culture and the cost of living, I'd advise you to spend a few hours reading the previous message board topics and you will defintiely find the answers you're looking for.
