Croix Hospital Decertified Again
sigh
Imagine how all the employees must feel upon hearing that their retirement savings are now going to be put into the GERS black hole, probably never to be seen again.
Sad indeed.
So much of this boils down to the loss of HOVENSA and the tax dollars it generated. The borrowing this government is doing to compensate for that loss, will certainly be it's undoing.

I recall hearing over and over on the radio talk shows how we didn't need Hovensa, that we would tough it out and get through it.
How's that working out?
How about privatisation of the hospitals and having them run properly?
Anything the VI Government subsidizes turns to crap because everyone has to have their hand in the cookie jar, one way or the other.
For the amount of money poured in the hospitals, people are shortchanged in what they provide for services.
That would be wonderful Alana33 but you know it would never happen.
It's so frustrating! Borrow, borrow, borrow!
Here's the VI Consortium article.

Alana: When you have a large percentage of people who have no way to pay for services (or don't want to), and you have a system that says everyone must be provided services regardless of their ability to pay, you have a recipe for disaster. There is no private entity in this country that would take that on. There is no free healthcare; you are paying for those who don't.
And when the priorities of the territorial government are mansions and horse racing tracks...well,you see what happens?
Edit: Oh, yes..They have *not* been decertified. They have been warned to come up with a plan of compliance by December 9.
JFL has NOT been de-certified yet.
The hospital has until Dec 9 to submit a Plan of Correction. This POC must contain the plan to correct each specific deficiency cited, along with the procedure for implementing the POC, among other requirements.
If an acceptable POC is submitted by the due date, the facility will be revisited by CMS to verify the necessary corrections.
