This might be a bit O/T so I aplogize but it is CUL related. The big thing that shifted us away from CUL as our one stop shop is their milk prices. They don't sell whole gallons and their price on half gallons is $4.99! Plaza sells a whole gallon for $5.99 and we go through a lot of milk now with the little ones. We communicated this to the manager of the store who listened and made note but so far still no gallon's of milk (odd with them being a bulk store) or competitive pricing.

Sean

Sean - We use UHT milk for everything, which CUL stocks by the case, and the taste is easy to get used to.

Copied from Quality Food's website:
6096 Castle Coakley
Christiansted, St Croix, VI 00820
P. (340) 778-1234
F. (340) 778-8012

They're open Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:00pm and on Saturdays from 8:00am to 12:00pm. I don't believe that they're open to the public, but I could be mistaken. I would recommend calling Noah and setting up a time.

I did buy 5 bananas yesterday at CUL on STX. They were green. Today, they're already turning black. Yuk! What a waste of money.

Bananas are a crap shoot. I have to buy them daily to keep up with them!
Quality Foods is a wholesale outfit for those in the trade. You do need to be a business to get in.

The public can purchase from Quality Foods. But it's not a walk around, pick what you want yourself operation. You walk into the office, give the sales rep your list, and someone from the warehouse pulls it for you. They have good quality stuff. Sometimes for less than Plaza or Cost-U-Less. Some items (potatoes for instance) have to be purchased in minimum amounts because that's how Quality receives them. The staff is very friendly and extremely helpful. (tu)

buy your bananas from roadside vendors, the small fat locally grown bananas
they have a slightly tangy taste....much better than the modern banana that is shipped to the states

Quality Food was on STT but recently went defunct.

Quality Food on StX is across from Tropical Plumbing on Hess Road. Drive through the woods a bit then turn left up a bumpy road and our parking lot is on the right.

We sell produce in set amounts because it's much easier for the produce selectors. We were selling oranges, apples, romaine, etc etc by the each and it wasn't efficient at all.

We recently started carrying organics, as well. PM me if you'd like more info, I don't want to be caught advertising!

UPDATE: I went by yesterday. They still have stuff in boxes, but have returned to many more individual items- tomatoes, snap peas, potatoes, avocados, peppers, squash. There were still some in packages- asparagus, lemons, apples- but it looks like the protest worked. Power to the people!(tu)

I've bought the large bag of asparagus twice, and surprisingly, it stayed fresh long enough for us to use it all both times. $7.99 is a good price for it.

Now we do have to support the produce section or they will change it back is my guess -- Vegetable Power.

Wow.

Just imagine what could happen if we got as riled up about politics as we do produce.

Well, you would have to actually talk to them, wouldn't you?
Right now and pretty much all the time it is easy to get their ear and express your concerns, I do. I really don't know if it will make a difference but at least my opinions are heard. From my perspective most people don't bother, they just bitch.

Bombi,

On the few occasions I have sent an email to the Governor via his website I have been summarily ignored. Despite my request for feedback to my letters (which provided constructive ideas for improving things, were not overly long, and were, IMO pretty well written) I heard crickets.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong but my experience has not been good.

Since we don't have districting I feel like I don't have "my senator" to write to either. Someone who could help me with issues in my neighborhood.

Sorry I know this is OT but I have to say that my limited experience trying to interact with local politicians was a failure and discouraged me from wasting any more of my time.

Sean I have written a couple of letters to the Governor and received replies, not what I wanted to hear and I suspect the replies were from staff but at least I got a response. I haven't tried the email link. I have gotten response from Barshinger, O'Reilly, Nelson and Donastorg as well.

I really think districting is the way to go as well. It is the only way we will get fair representation.

Bob a little of both. Judi, if elected will work with the senate to review sentencing, bail and repeat offender laws. It you want less crime and someone who listens to you give her a shout. She will take your call or answer an email. Judi is an opportunity for both STX and the VI.
