Cost of childcare??
Hey there all. I have found the answere to most of my questions about moving to the Virgin Islands on this website. I am still curious about the price of childcare. We are considering a move early next year. Our baby will be around a year old. Thanks for the help!!
April, childcare prices vary widely, so it's hard to give an answer to your question. For the most part, the prices are cheaper than you'd expect to find stateside. My daughter attends a daycare/preschool for $300 a month, for example. But it depends upon what you are satisfied with. Some very good programs are comparable in price to high end daycare in NYC or DC (in other words, very expensive). Then there are the "baby sitters" which generally care for 1-5 children either in your home or theirs. Again, these range greatly in price. Also, a good sitter seems to be much harder to find these days, not sure why that's so but people tell me there were just a lot of babies born for a while . . .
Stttarfish,
Where did you find day-care for $300/month? I couldn't find day-care on STT for under $100/week! There are some government programs for free day-care, but they are usually full and are for locals.
