Contact the candidates ?!?!
So I decided to call the Election System of the VI, Sunny Isle STX branch, to ask if they have any information on file for the candidates who are running in the Democratic primary.
The woman told me to contact the candidates!
So I said, you don't have any information on file that the candidates are required to submit before running?
She said no.
I am not sure if she just didn't want to help me (since I called after 4pm LOL) or if they really don't have information on file.
One would think that candidates would have to submit a profile and platform in order to run???
Some only have linked in pages or fb with sparse info.
So if I cannot find any info on a candidate, they won't get my vote.
Ivy Moses is still on the candidates list but she's not supposed to be as she was disqualified.
WTJX will be hosting candidate forums next week, so that's the best place to get a look at the candidates. The Daily News will also have a special edition next week.
No, the candidates do not have to submit a platform. Info basically limited to name, address, residency, age, voter registration, party, etc. I don't think any US jurisdiction that vets candidates requires potential candidates to submit a platform.
Too bad they don't have to submit their tax return, educational qualifications and criminal records!
Thanks ms411....I wanted to vote during the "early voting" this week, and not on August 6.
It would be nice if WTJX hosted the forums this week, and the DN ran the special this week, for those wishing to vote early.
I agree with Alana, those should be requirements for sure.
No jurisdiction in the States has those requirements. I researched that last year.
The DN special edition will be published Jul 4. Candidates' deadline was yesterday. The early voting dates are always announced almost last minute so makes scheduling difficult.
No jurisdiction in the States has those requirements. I researched that last year.

You should send it to the Board of Elections.
I looked at the FL forms. Ours are very similar, so not much difference. Intent seems to be about the same.
The point is that the OP asked for copies of the forms and the BOE said they had nothing at all on file.
They have them on STT because some people that I know are running told me they submitted. I told them I would be checking them after the primary. A prohect I promised myself I would do after the last election.
Too bad they don't have to submit their tax return, educational qualifications and criminal records!
They do have to submit them if they have criminal records they say "perfect you can run" Now that's funny...
Chuck is running again..
Chuck is running again..
I know....but she is running as an independent.
Most candidates in the VI are independent, a strategy which allows them to avoid a primary election and ensures that they are on the ballot in the general election.
