Interesting in moving there, I am considering Hovensa as a potential employer, how is it to leave in their housing ( is contamination an issue? , is it better to live in other part of the island? Is better to ship my car or can I get a lease there? Any advice welcome!!!

ok. Contamination: is the act of contaminating or polluting with unwanted substances that could threat your health.

What positon are you applying/applied for...that determines whether you have the opportunity to live in camp.

Ok. If you are speaking of petroleum contamination, I've never heard of any ground or water contamination.

Bostonian, have you visited STX? If not, I certainly suggest you make the trip and check thing out for yourself.

Lots of people are happy to work at the refinery and they get good pay and benefits for doing so. If you qualify for housing on-site, it could be in the "man camp" or in single family homes, depending on your position and length of your contract. The single family homes are nice enough and contamination doesn't seem to be an issue of any kind. If they offer you a housing stipend to live off-site, you may be able to find something in a location you like for less than the full stipend and you can pocket the difference. People who live on-site often find themselves feeling hemmed in and not going out and socializing as much as those who live off-site. It depends on what you want your island experience to be.
