Condo Communities on STX
Any thoughts on Condo communities on STX? If you were going to purchase a condo is there one you would recommend or stay away from?
Specifically - thoughts on Coakley Bay, Cruzan Princess, Granada Del Mar
Would love thoughts on any really. Would use part time and either rent or leave empty the rest of the year.
Thanks
Daval
i wanted to move into granada del mar, but things didnt work out so well and we were not able to. since then i have heard it is a higher crime area? what i loved about granada del mar-if you had a 1st floor-you could just walk out your door to the beach .
maybe the crime is not as bad as i had heard
coakly bay is out west-restaurant, hair dressers, pool. seems nice.
dont know anything about the other
HUGE thumbs up for Coakley Bay Condos. My parents had a place there in the 80's -- and although I was living on STT at the time, I always liked it. Just about every unit has a spectacular view.
So when we moved to STX in 2008 we bought at Coakley. Since then they have added: full-time, full coverage electrical backup, buried main utility lines, full coverage high-speed Wi-Fi, recording security cameras property-wide (and DISH TV as an option.)
But the best thing is the commitment to the main infrastructure.....roofs and buildings all surfaced and re-painted on a rotating multi-year basis, beautiful plantings, newly repaved roads, a huge pool with Buck Island views -- on-site restaurant (Cultured Pelican) during the season and on-site beauty salon. Full-time staff and experienced manager and there is no additional charge for water (made on-site and private water processing system.) Our maintenance is in the middle of the pack despite all of this -- and the Board has maintained a huge reserve fund. The three bedrooms have a huge gallery that runs along the bedroom and living room -- while the two bedrooms are on two floors.

coakly bay is out west
Coakley Bay is on the east end. I love living here! The views are great, the automatic backup generator is nice, it's well-maintained, and most(?) units get a cell phone signal.
Any thoughts on St. C condos?
St. C is a great place, and one you should add to your list if you're looking for something that's safe, conveniently located, affordable and offering one of the best views on the island. It's gated, has 24-hour security, only five to 10 minutes to C'sted, and recently underwent a top-to-bottom renovation of the entire complex. And its monthly fee is among the lowest on island.

Thanks so much for the replies!
I don't know anything about the others, but I wish I lived at Cruzan Princess. The beach is very close & the sliding glass doors face it. The other windows don't seem to face the neighbors windows, so I suspect it is less noisy than where I live & the pool is between buildings so some of the wind on the water is blocked.
Granada del Mar sounds great also. I will have to look up it's location.
Beachfront condos are great. The only point to remember is that 'stuff'; cars, electronics, sliding glass doors, etc. take a real beating from maw nature year round…
Notice I didn't rant and rave. :}
Hey, you are so nice! You would not believe the stuff I read a couple years ago when I moved here. It was as if I hadn't already spent a dozen winters on a Puerto Rican beach.
Granada del Mar sounds great also. I will have to look up it's location.
GDM is right next to Cruzan Princess. I lived there about 15 yrs ago. Beautiful view. Nice pool. Laundry on site. But as Novanut says that close to the water and especially on the Northern side of the island you get lots of rust and corrosion.
Thanks so much. My search pin pointed one area that was in Princesse & another way east, so I was still guessing til now.
Also, check out Queste Verde condos near Christiansted.
a lot of people say questa verde looks like a prison or mental institution
