commin down. 1/12/04
hello everyone! I have been doing some research for quite some time about relocating to the islands. i believe that i have made up my mind and will be arriving on Mon. Jan. 12 with a backpack, a guitar, and a basket of dreams. I'm 23 and a recent UGA grad, with little money--not looking to make much money, just looking to get by. I will be needing a place to crash, nothing fancy, and a job (that can be a little fancy). Ive got a substansial resturant service career behind me, but I'm open to anything. If any one has any leads or more imoprtantly a place to stay, let me know.
cheers,
tyler form atl
p.s. I majored in Telecom Arts and Film Studiesfrom the Grady College of Jounalism and Mass Com @ the University of Georgia, where I was also a DJ @ WUOG 90.5fm for four years, and have produced and written several on air video pieces.
Hey Tyler, I take my hat off to you. Good luck!
Hey Tyler, I am a UGA grad too '96 from ATL and coming down...all I need to do is sell my car and House in ATL, but the house is not important. So I may be looking you up when I get there and asking for some of the same things...good luck, which island? I am planning on St. John, but we'll see......
I moved down here a week ago after recieving a teaching job over the phone. I might rent a two bedroom apartment for 750 and charge to 375 for a roommate. I will keep you updated. Plus, the place I am looking at is close to all services. But dont be such a damn hippie. Bring some cash. You might need it to cover two months of rent.
Hi Bob,
I read your message about getting a teaching job over the phone. Please explain. I am starting the search for a teaching position down there.

Hello Tyler,
Bring copies of your resume for restaurant work and your resume for music/communications, as soon as you get here go to restaurants and look for work. Then visit the radio stations and tv stations. You might also try and get in contact with the film folks that help/rent equipment/provide support when music videos and commercials are filmed in the VI. You can look up contact information for these places in the phone book. If you have not already you might book a couple nights at a small inn or b&b and then spend that time securing a room-mate or apartment. All the best to you.
