Commercial drivers license?
Although I have pretty much figured it out on my own that there is no commercial driving licensing (CDL's) in the USVI, atleast I can't find any info on it. Can any one tell me why, or if they know any more on the subject? I am currently licensed to to drive just about any size vehicle and was wondering if there are any large trucks(tractor-semi trailers) on any of the islands. I am currently a supervisor in the transportation industry, and driving is what I used to do for the last 11 years. I would hate to lose my CDL by lettting it expire by moving down there. They are not easy to get any more. Any info on the subject would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Dave.
Hello Dave,
Call DMV about the license options.
We do have some large trucks and they do require special licenses to drive them. There are large water trucks, large construction equipment and tractor semis. that pull trailors (usually carrying mechandise for large stores... K-mart, Home Depot, Office Max...).

Thanks Islander. I'll do just that.
Our thoughts are with you guys down there. Keep Safe.
Dave.
most of your larger haulers are sending the drivers for cdl training. it is not enforced yet but it will be down the road so if you have one you will be ahead of the game i was just on island and spoke to the driver who delivered our trash bins and asked him these questions. he works for steve rampino.
Thanks for info ed m. Now that I think about it, CDL's in the mainland are only 10 years old. It would only seem natural that all over the world eventually, you would need special training and licensing not only for safety, but regulation too.
Thanks Dave.
