Chucky makes it to Ebony
Marriage Doesn't Automatically Mean Consent
Virgin Island Senator Alicia “Chucky” Hansen says that she is “not a ‘no’ person.” And that, she explained this week, is why she has a hard time understanding how a person could possibly be raped by a spouse.
As the St. Thomas Source reported Tuesday, the comments came during a debate over the wording of a bill that would “add protections for spouses, men and women, who are the victims of actions that constitute rape or unlawful sexual contact in aggravated domestic violence instances.” The proposal would strike the phrase “not the perpetrator’s spouse” to the current definition of aggravated rape, rape in the second and third degree and unlawful sexual contact, a loophole that the bill’s sponsor Sen. Sammuel Sanes calls “an embarrassment in this day and age.” The Source reported that before voting against it, Hansen declared she didn’t get it how a wife could be raped by a husband, explaining, “If it is forcefully against the will of a spouse then that is a problem. But if a woman says no and he still wants something, I don’t know how you can call it rape. Maybe because I am not a ‘no’ person, I don’t know.” It says she added, “Some of them just like it. They are the ones that need to be educated. I don’t want to describe who they are, nationality. If the man don’t hit them, they say the man don’t love them

We need more national exposure like this. No I know in the real world believes me when I tell them what goes on here.

We're not exactly unique in having numbnuts in government "representing" the people. It would be far more effective if the people who keep putting Chucky and her ilk back in positions of power learn how to read and equally effective if the people who are eligible to vote but opt not to exercise that privilege rather than sitting back wringing their hands.

If I recall OT, you decided not to become a US citizen and therefore are ineligible to vote, yet want to call the VI your 'home' and tell others they need to exercise their voting rights. Nice. 😎
First thing I did way back when moving here was to register to vote, and I've voted in every election since. I encourage others to do the same, although I'm still skeptical on the electoral process as it's executed here.
(And this should probably be under the coconut tree).

Here we go again and which sort of comment I anticipated. I understand that because I am not a US citizen I am not eligible to vote in government elections but didn't realize that encouraging others who are eligible to vote is therefore something I shouldn't do. Following this mindset I assume therefore that I should in no way contribute to community causes (as I've done for the past three decades as a VI resident), shouldn't dare to comment on social and political issues and probably should walk around with my resident alien status tattooed on my forehead so that as soon as I open my mouth to express my opinion, those around me will immediately know that my opinion is worth zilch. Thank you for your well thought out and knowledgeable input.
If a sworn virgin expounded to me on the reasons why I should procreate, surely I'd be negligent if I didn't consider the source.
This doesn't mean a virgin isn't entitled to strong views regarding reproduction, but if they aren't willing, why encourage others to do so at ones bequest.
"A share in the sovereignty of the state, which is exercised by the citizens at large, in voting at elections is one of the most important rights of the subject, and in a republic ought to stand foremost in the estimation of the law. " - Alexander Hamilton.
"Power does not corrupt men; fools, however, if they get into a position of power, corrupt power." — George Bernard Shaw
I am pretty sure women weren't even allowed to vote when Alexander Hamilton made that statement - he lived on STX for a while growing up.

OT you rock!
Shameful
She is one of the reasons we're sometimes regarded as "third world" ... Her mentality is from the third world, and many of "her people" still believe it ... truly astounding!

An interesting update on Hansen.. The more she talks, the worse it gets... This lady shouldn't be a senator... Period... A doctor should diagnose her for the brain-neurons-malfunction-and-misfiring syndrome (Medical term for Brain Fa**)...
I find it ridiculous that a woman that criticizes racism is such a bigot... How can you be an effective lawmaker if you are a bigot in the Caribbean?... "Stupid is as stupid does"...

speechless... petition signed!
What "nationalities of woman" like aggressive behavior?
What "nationalities of woman" like aggressive behavior?
That got to me really good the first time I read it... If she is going to make a racist remark, she should finish it... She thought it was correct to say that and then come back at the end and say "... I am not saying nationality"... This lady does not fire from all cylinders...
Never did, never will but hey, she gets paid the big bucks to continue in the charade of being a senator.
God help us all!
What "nationalities of woman" like aggressive behavior?
We live in Bizarro World!
Remember when Bert would get mad during the Senate sessions he would turn off the lights and unplug the mikes.........
Take out his gun and threaten other senators. Break Daily News photographer's camera?
Chucky must be related as mentality is the same. Screeching voice like nails on a chalkboard!
