Headline: Christiansted Bypass to Open to Vehicular Traffic at 8 a.m. on Saturday,
January 12

Governor John P. de Jongh, Jr. has directed the Commissioner of Public Works to open the
Christiansted Bypass to ease the flow of vehicular traffic through downtown
Christiansted. The Bypass will be opened at 8 a.m. on Saturday, January 12, and is
expected to alleviate intense congestion occurring with construction on the current WAPA
project.

we made a special trip into town just to go on the new taco turnpike. wow what a nice trip. felt like i was back in the states (for a mile)
and the rest stop is great. didnt see a bathroom though.

37 million dollars, started construction in 2007, conception was 1975. 2.1 mile stretch of road.

Going to some nice restaurants on the East End will be so much easier.......takes minutes compared to previous driving thru Christiansted with or without construction.

Interesting to see if traffic lites will congest traffic during peak times.
