chocolate cake
I need a small birthday cake for a charter on Wed. Vi Desserts was $45 for a 6" cake and seemed a bit overpriced for me. Any ideas?

wow, you could make a bunch for that price. i thought you were offering me some chocolate cake. but alas you want one.
What about the grocery stores. i know in the states grocery stores usually have good ckes. not sure about here
not so much here. Don't really want to make one but if nothing else shows up i may have to 🙂
Pamela
Pamela,
Are you located on STX?
Try the starfish pastry shop or over in gallows bay, theres a place on the corner........dag forget the name.....or there was a lady who made great chocolate rum cakes...........elenor or something like that.......sorry off island now & going by memory
STT -bad since Franks closed in Subbase. May have to actually heat up the oven tomorrow 🙂
I've seen some very attractive cakes at the STX supermarkets. Not at all expensive.
Pam a co worker got a frozen choc layer cake at cost u less and it was amazing! She said last frozen case along the back wall, in a dark colored box. Think it was a fudge layer cake , seriosly good!
Thanks! That is exactly what I did. We can write something on it and be done with it. BTW, car only cost $12 to fix! YAY.

"Baked in the Sun" at the Marketplace on STJ makes very good chocolate cakes. i think i paid $40 for a 10" cake.

Sloop,
Thanks I will keep that in mind for future charters.
Too Late for you.
However, this is a new business just dropped into my in box. You might want to take note for future reference. New business starting up so I have no clue as to the taste of the cakes. The pictures of the cakes look quite creative.

Too late but I have bought cakes at Plaza Extra and they taste great and are not expensive. But I will say the VI Desserts has the absolutely BEST tasting cakes ever.
