cheapest place to buy a washer - STX?

kmart appliance store, gallows bay hardware. we bought ours at gallows bay when they were having a pretty good sale.

there was a place in Sion Farm Shopping Center that I got a great deal for a GE dryer, a few yrs ago. Not sure if they're still open, but it's in the strip mall west of Plaza Extra (headed toward Sunny Isle) and the store was more on the western side. Can't remember the name though.

Best Furniture is in United Shopping Plaza, where Plaza is located. Carlos used to be in the strip center west of there, so that may be where you are thinking of. Of course, Carlos is now a little more east and across the street, but still on Rt. 70. And there is an appliance store (Appliances r Us ???) in that same strip center where Carlos used to be (next to the chinese restaurant, Bejing Gardens).

I don't think there is a cut and dried "cheapest" place. Depends on who is having a sale and also you need to compare apples to apples. You may get a cheaper washer at ..., but a better value at the next place. Have fun shopping!

Yes that's it, Appliances R Us

Just wanted to give everyone an update, in case any were planning an appliance purchase soon. First, Appliances R Us is now Airs R Us and really only has about 4 or 5 things for sale. I ended up going there, along with Kmart Appliance Center, Best Furniture and Carlos Furniture. Kmart has the biggest selection and sales all the time. Best was very nice, but the prices were higher. Carlos offered to match Kmart's price, and they have their own service people. So, again I ended up at Carlos. Jihad's great!

Thanks for your help (and for doing the legwork for us!). We're in the market for a fridge and washer/dryer, so your experience and input has been helpful.

By far, Best Furniture is the best place to go. Not only are their prices competitive, but the service is unsurpassed. I don't know about you, but sometimes it's not all about the price. Customer service means so much more these days. Good luck with your purchase. ps - make sure you get a energy star product....I think the energy rebate program is still in effect.

Best and Carlos are always the best prices for appliances. And you can usually haggle a little. I've heard nothing good about Kmart and their warranties, and they do not have free delivery let alone haul away the old appliance.

Jihad at Carlos is great. Ahmad at Best is also good, although there's a little more haggle required there. I've had some difficulties with both, mistakes happen (seemingly much more frequently in the VI) but both worked to make them right and always gave good service.

KMart store can have some good sales and is a welcome addition. I ended up buying my Fridge at Carlos several years ago and was happy. After energy star rebate paid the exact same amount as I would've stateside for the exact same model!
