Cheapest days to fly?
I was wondering if any of you had search tips for finding the cheapest flights. I have found that flying on actual holidays can be good. I got a really good flight on Halloween last year.
is there any day of the week that is generally cheaper? Any other search tips? Thanks.
NPR just broadcast a story on this a few minutes ago. Ticket prices change every minute, and passengers sitting next to each other often pay prices that differ by hundreds of dollars.
Tue, Wed & Thu are generally the cheapest days to fly. But when you buy can be more important than when you fly. Prices are generally highest when you buy on weekends, and lowest when you buy on Tue, Wed or Thu. Also, prices are generally the lowest 4 to 6 weeks before you fly, and higher before and after that.
There was also a news report a few months ago that Tue 3pm is the best moment in the week to buy, because airlines post fare changes around that time, and they wait to see if other airlines will follow their lead.
Wow! Now THAT'S some quality info! Much more useful and specific than I was expecting... Thanks!
Tues, Wed & Saturday. Don't buy on the weekends.
And since the prices are always changing, keep watching the prices, and set up fare alerts with the travel search engines.
