Cheapest car rental

I don't know about cheaper companies, but Olympic can be inconvenient because they pick up the renting drivers (and no other guests) at the airport and take them to their office in Richmond to get the car. They don't deliver your car to the airport. At least that's how it used to work. For convenience, we always steered our guests toward other companies that provided cars at the airport.

I haven't rented a car for a few years. But always found Budget at the airport to have the best prices. If you have a problem with the car they will bring a replacent vehicle to you.

Thanks everyone. I will see how I feel about Budget on the island, as they have a terrible record on the mainland & Olympic is right in the neighborhood & we can pick her up at the airport & allow her a bit of stress free time to learn to drive on the left. But if anyone has a good or bad experience with a company, or a fantastic price story please let me know.

Used Olympic twice in the past, and both times bad experiences.
A Jeep with dead battery, and a small sedan that the doors and trunk would not lock....also had a leaky tire.
Used Centerline Car rentals a few years ago, and it was very good.....reasonable rates too !!

Centerline will take 10% off on their website using discount code STXWEEK15 this fall. You will pay less if you pick-up off-airport. I've had no issues with Centerline.

Car rental companies are like gas stations...all about the same price give or take a penny or two.

Except for Hertz STX. Last I checked they were especially proud of their cars.
