Chances of being kidnapped?
i had heard she did depart from the ferry and instead of waiting for her ride, was picked up by some guys??? but you know how reliable these things are. i had never heard she fell overboard. but with her backpack on board?
I would like to add that even though the Islands are as safe as the mainland for the most part, just as the mainland, you still have to be mindful of where you are and your surroundings at ALL TIMES. There are also places that mindful people shouldn't go especially after dark alone.

Trinidad has the highest kidnap rate in the Caribbean.
Almost non existent elsewhere.
The FBI has jurisdiction over kidnappings so pure kidnappings don't happen - that is where a ransom is demanded.
There has been rare carjackings or home invasions, but no kidnappings for ransom.
Didn't I read in the paper a few months back about a man who was abducted and held for ransom? His wife didn't pay, they found him dead in his burned out car.
Does anyone else remember that story? I could be wrong.
I remember reading about it in paper.
yes, but most likely it was not a random kidnapping -so if you count that car jacking-maybe 4 in the past 10 years
