Oh, amen, poorthang! On some of them, you can't tell if the swimsuit was supposed to be a thong, or if it was supposed to be a brief but is so much too small for the person that it just got swallowed in fat rolls. *gag* I'm not a skinny thing by any stretch of the imagination (I'm a size 18) but "cheese and bread, man!" That's just wrong!

yep, i would say alot of people dont look in a mirror when they go out ( sorry for not being nice ) i am a size 6 on most days and would not wear a thong in public. i usually wear a tshirt when we go to the beach too. not just for sun protection either.

Leebug, www.newport-news.com has cute swimsuits, not too expensive, and they ship here Priority, which is an extra $5.95 after their regular shipping charge. The last one I bought through them was under $30 before shipping--that's not any more than KMart, and it's a lot better quality, since they're a division of Spiegel. And their customer service people are great to work with if you have issues. I've been buying from them since I was a teenager and had to send money orders with my catalog orders because I wasn't old enough for a debit card, and I've never once had a problem with their customer service.

Ooh, every time I come to this thread I've been tempted to hijack it just long enough to share my favorite swimsuit outfitter, and now that stephyjh has done it, here's my two cents as well. (Thanks, stephyjh, I'll check out the site you mentioned.) I discovered Athleta (www.athleta.com) a year or two ago, just before it was bought by Gap, and I love their stuff. Not just swimwear, but everything else, too. It's not cheap, but they have really, really good sales, and they sometimes have 30% off coupons. Shipping is a flat $7, and they do ship to the VI.

roadrunner, i just saw their catalog a week or so ago. saw some cute swimsuits, but without trying them on, kinda hard to know if they will work. you know how sizes change from manufacturer to manufacturer. and i dont want too much fluff to hang out. i bought my last one downtown at hot heads. great fit. i tried on about 10 different ones to find the right one.

Surprisingly, victoriassecret.com has become my go-to site for reasonably priced, decent quality swimwear. Not everything falls in that category, but they have a lot of selection. I go through bikinis like water (no pun intended) -- between beaches and boating, they're always getting stained, snagged, etc. -- so I buy a few $20 to $35 sets at a time to take advantage of their free shipping over $100 offer. (They charge something like $5 extra for USVI delivery, but no big deal when the rest of the shipping charge is zero). Now isn't the time to get the best prices, but when they go on sale at the end of the summer, you can stock up like crazy.

Jcrew also has great end of summer bikini sales which I always stock up on. Most pieces are 9.99 so you can get an entire bikini for $20. And usually they are $80 which is way out of my price range for a bathing suit!!!

Us with FLUFF don't wear bikinis so much anymore 🙂

LOL Pamela! And, on my "fluffier" days, I trust Nike and Speedo (via Zappos.com, free shipping) to keep me contained! 😎 Those suits cost a bit more but wear very well.

I remember my well built, trim hubby wearing his speedos in Jacksonville Beach back in the 80's when his then early teens son asked him why he wore an "old man" swimsuit. Laughed my ample behind off over that one.
