Ceremonial vehicles
Seems that Mr Mapp may have his $8M request of revolving credit for government vehicles not only approved by the legislature but increased to $10M now that the former wording of "ceremonial vehicles for the government" has been revised to eliminate that tricky word, "ceremonial". Oh my, the power of semantics.
Pisses me off.
The senatorial slush fund is working wonders for their new love affair with Mapp.
WHEN and WHERE is this foolishness going to end?
Why doesn't anyone in the legislature stand up to the reckless actions of Mapp and his cronies?
He just continues to recklessly spend spend spend!!!....and noone will stand up to him and say "NO,No,NOOOO!!
I for one am so SICK of this!!!
It's not going to end.
This is just one foolishness to pass.

Mapp Official: Raises 'Sustainable' Because Deficit Already $100 Million

From the information I was looking at here http://mercatus.org/sites/default/files/Norcross-StateFiscal-Condition.pdf not many States have a balanced budget, have good long term solvency, etc. deficit spending is not the end of the world. I don't get too worried about giving people raises (many of whom deserve one). The ceremonial car issue is unneeded fluff
That means that using a Fiat 500, just like the Pope, is out of the question...
Bullet proof, luxury limos is what Mapp wants, 1 each for himself and Potter, and on each island of STT /STX each with their own drivers. 4 ceremonial limos in all. Total waste of money.

Just rehashing the same old but this is exactly what he learned from his mentor, former governor Roy Schneider under who he served as Lt Governor. It's no surprise. He relies on the fact that memories fade with time but, for many of us, 'tis not so. Now we have the internet which, in 1996 when he was sworn in as Lt Gov, was only available here to very few.
The information and history is now out there for all to see but, when so many rely on that access solely to exchange mundanities on social websites, nothing will change much. Posting political angst on general forums accomplishes zilch. The further step where your governmental representatives are concerned is to contact them directly and their contact information isn't hard to find but may require just a little bit more effort than forum posting.
VERY TRUE...OLD TART.
Again with the asides...but...who remembers Schneider's inauguration? He started out with fireworks at high noon over the harbor (huh?!?) then had parties and fireworks on all three islands (this was before the transfer of Water Island) over the next several days. And lit $100 bills on fire...;)
As per the latest update: NO ceremonial vehicles... I am confident they will always find a way to get 'em.

I believe the very precise rewording and the comments delivered with it make this virtually impossible. Credit to the senators involved and to the people of the VI for speaking out and being heard.
Maybe he'll get the MBA to pay for them instead:D
