I am remembering from previous threads Centerline Bakery being mentioned as having good doughnuts, and among other things, natural food and / or health products and, I think, internet. I stopped in there today, and they didn't have much of anything. I looked at a list of bakery items, but doughnuts were not listed. It's a very small place. The only bakery item I saw was muffins, and I could smell coconut drops (employee told me what I was smelling). The had a take-out local food set up. That was it. I was on Rt. 70, Centerline, between the big Kmart and Plaza West. A small white building with blue trim, sign said Centerline Deli and Bakery. Was I in the right place? Can someone set me straight? Thanks.

You're confusing it with Pastry Hut, which is further west on Centerline Road, after big Kmart.

Hi, Juanita,

The thing about Centerline Bakery is you have to get there early - we've called there ahead of time even, asking if they could set stuff aside for us to pick up later ( a dozen guava tarts, for instance ) which they always have.
Searching my strictly-tourist memories I recall stopping at The Pastry Hut one time. It was the end unit in a strip of shops, new construction. They had items there but Centerline is still the best because it has a more "local" flavor. They also sell a potent home-made hot sauce that comes in Brow soda bottles.

"Pastry Hut" is actually a stand-alone store. DL was correct with the directions. It is maybe 300 hundred yards west of the intersection of Centerline and Carlton Road and it will be on the right. If you pass the little gas station on your left, you went too far.

Pastry Hut is its own building. Behind it there are some houses and the main baking house but no strip of shops. It is usually pretty well stocked and has more selection when it comes to pastries, donuts, johnnycakes, cake, cookies.. I would say both of them are pretty local-- Pastry Hut's owner is from down island somewhere and Centerline's owner grew up on St Croix.

BTW, Daniel's bakery in Mon Bijou/Glynn has the BEST BEST guava tarts on the island!!! Soooooo goooood. Next time you visit try them out...it is on a dirt road by the Vitelco building...

Thanks everyone. I know where Pastry Hut is. I'll check them out next time I'm out west.
