cellphone service
we are in the market for our first ever cell phones here on island i'd like to hear about st croix, we're in cane bay and i know service can be somewhat limited, but i'd like
to hear about the rest of the island
I use Cingular and the two areas that I have problems are Cane Bay and driving along East End Road through Solitude.

Definitely ATT / Cingular! I did your homework for you over the last six months. We had Sprint, and the service was very sketchy. I know people with Centennial, and they have OK service, but Cen. doesn't offer the good plans.
If you go into the Cingular store here on island, you won't be offered free phones. I recommend going online to ATT/Cingular and shopping for the phone you want. They offer several nice phones free with a 2 year contract. You won't be able to place your order online, but if you call, they will "almost" match the online deal. I think it cost me $20.00 for two phones. One hitch is that not all phones offered on the website work here, but you just plug in your zip code or area code and they narrow it down for you.
I got a really nice Samsumg camera phone with some bells and whistles. I was a little disappointed when my daughter tried to bluetooth me an audio, and it didn't work. They told us at the ATT store that Samsung phones can only receive bluetooth from another Samsung phone. (I'm talking about downloads here. Your bluetooth works fine for phone conversations.)
Also, if you do place your order via telephone, you will need a physical mailing address. They won't ship to a post office box. I used Mailboxes, Etc. ATT ships Fed Ex, no charge. I had my phones in a couple of days.
Our service does not work at Cane Bay, but it does work from the Divi parking lot.
thank you both i was thinking att/cingular andyou've confirmed what i'm thinking
The other nice thing about At&t ? Cingular is the free long distance.
there is sometimes limited cell service from the parking lot at the Full Moon Bar out at Cane Bay. You just have to stand in the right place and not move around too much!
There is a specific spot at Full Moon Bar that usually works. Just stand at the top of the stairs. I know it sounds strange but it works. I got that tip from the bartenders there.
Does T-Mobile work in the Virgin Islands, STJ?
