cell phones and air cards
I have verizon wireless here stateside that I have a contract on for 2 years, on that is a cell phone and air card for laptop. They will both work in the VI but with a roaming rate of $1.99/min so I will not be using them. I know that I can get a prepaid cell phone there reasonable since I do not talk on the phone much, does anyone there use an aircard for their internet and do you know if those can be bought prepaid without signing a contract? Or would it be better to just subscribe to wireless there?
On St. Croix AT&T has a go phone with several plans. there are wireless providers on STX, they are VI Broadband and Choice Communucations. Centenial has a modem, express card and USB modem for $60 but you have to have a $50 wireless account.
Is Centennial a wireless provider or cell phone provider or both? So you have to purchase a $50 wireless account and then buy the express card for $60????
I used my AT&T Wireless card while I was down there. I pay $60/ month unlimited internet. My coverage down there was decent. Apparently AT&T is working to bring Edge coverage too which would be good. My internet was somewhat slow. You have to do a contract though...that's the downside.
I'm looking for something that isn't a contract since I already have one with verizon. I know I can sign another contract but thats not what I asked. If anyone has the answer to this I would appreciate it very much.
Sorry I couldn't help then.

Yes, I know my verizon air card will work there, I already stated that in a previous post and that its $1.99/minute roaming charges. Thats why I'm asking if maybe at&t has a prepaid air card. I'll call them directly. Thanks for trying to help.
