cell calls $3 per minute?!
On east side of peterborg (and maybe other places too), my at&t cell phone can't connect to at&t tower so I can only ping off the boat towers and BVI's which are terrible expensive. Does anyone know of a cell solution in these areas that are not so expensive?
Buy a repeater or a booster system for your home. Will cost around $500, but at $3 a minute the payback will be fairly quick.

we're down a cliff from the road, think this will still help? Thanks for the advice. Where do you buy these? Radio Shack?
I live on Peterborg and have great cell phone reception with Sprint. I've turned off roaming so there are no surprises on my bill.
east or west side? top or bottom of a hill/cliff? my cell only locks onto boat towers. I don't even have a choice. Well I wonder if I turn off roaming would I get connected to STT tower or would I get nothing?
No you will have to go on line and Google up a source. They often sell them for use on large yachts so that passengers can use their cell phones even when they are a long way from shore.
There are illegal (over powered units ) that allow people in Mexico to connect with the US cell phone network even as far as 100 miles south of the border.

I know people in Peterborg who just call AT&T and have the charges removed from their bill.
I live on the crest of the peninsula. I think AT&T will only remove the charges a couple of times and then they figure you should've learned to turn roaming off. If you don't get reception when roaming is off, I believe AT&T will release you from your contract.
For those contemplating a move here, it is important to understand that where you live and work will dermine what, if any, cell phone service will work for you.
Sprint does not pickup GSM signal from CW in the BVI so in my case that i live in Peterborg i am switching to Sprint 99.00 dollar everything plan i am going to order the Instinct is the same or better than my iphone i am tire of calling AT&T to get roaming charges off my bill because i pick up CW from the BVI.
rokipatel,
what is CW? and do get anything other than BVI signal from your place in peterborg? Why do you think you'll get sprint signal from there when you couldn't get at&t signal?
First of all CW is Cable and Wireless the cellphone provider in the BVI. Also AT&T and CW work on GSM as per Sprint works on CDMA. Sprint does not roam easily as a GSM phone. What i was talking is that i have AT&T and when i go to my terrace i get roaming signal from the BVI which is CW because i have seen it in my cell bill which details internationalroaming charges from CW in the BVI when i was not there. What i was trying to say is that Sprint coverage in STT and parts of STJ is great my friend has it and he has much better reception that my AT&T phone also the new plan that they have 99.00 everything plan is about 35.00 dollars less that what i pay for the IPhone an it is completely unlimited even roaming nationwide including Puerto rico and USVI. Sprint has this new phone that my friend has the Instinct it has nothing on the iphone it even has 20 channels of tv and the data connection kills AT&T.
