Well I won't go back from where I come from. I have lived all over. Mostly because my father was a famous country gospel singer. Lorretta played cards with my parents. Nasty mouth she had back then. Not so nasty now. Just the way people talk. I can remember hiding under the kitchen table when they played cards. Mostly rook. When my mother caught me I got a horrible spanking. I love all music, even rap, jazz not so much but the blues are my favorite. I am mostly a rock in roll girl but appreciate all music. Love classical and my baby daughter is a classical ballerina, my youngest son plays rock in roll. It is all good. Music is music.

Rap on the radio is why grown men are dressing like children with no parents. It's all about the production, the cute noises, and the beat. Lyrics have been thrown out the window and replaced with idiotic mumblings about getting drunk, carrying a gun, exploiting women, jewels, and expensive whips with nice rims.

Luckily, there is PLENTY of rap that has been labelled "Conscious" rap that focuses on brilliant wordplay, thoughtful lyrics, and most of all FUN. I love this genre and listen to it whenever I can. It's relaxing, it makes me laugh, and the wordplay makes you think. Rap has two faces and I can't stand the "crap rap" that you hear on the radio.

I will openly admit that I had a Garth Brooks tape when I was younger and I memorized several of the songs. Country was a part of my upbringing but it's not in my iPod. I'm all for new stations on the island for those who want to listen to it.

st.cmike really hates his country doesnt he?

guess he won't be attending the mountain heart concert this saturday...

i use to not like country. but after listening to alot and seeing concerts
(most recently Brad Paisley) i am a fan.

Music you can listen to with you kids.

Did you have bologna sandwiches tami when Loretta Lynn was at your house?

My ex's mom knew loretta also. can't remember how. they went way back. maybe all the way to that holler.

You mean I miss the Mountain Heart concert?????????? Once in a while you get lucky.

Actually in a previous work career I used to have to deal with recording artists of all different types of venue including CW. I must admit the vast majority of the performers were very pleasant to deal with (not their agents). I just could never get into the CW music, the clothing, the women with all the hairspray, the confederate flag and the cowboy boots - I guess its because I am originally from the Northeast

having worked construction where one is frequently force fed that stuff all day call me one who doesn't want to ever hear it again. not that there isn't some good music just there is a lot to drive one to suicide listing to people whining about their probs all day

Our little boy is four years old and quite a little man
So we spell out the words we don't want him to understand
Like T.O.Y or maybe S.U.R.P.R.I.S.E
But the words we're hiding from him now
Tear the heart right out of me.

Our D.I.V.O.R.C.E becomes final today
Me and little J.O.E will be goin' away
I love you both and it will be pure H.E double L for me
Oh, I wish that we could stop this D.I.V.O.R.C.E.

Watch him smile, he thinks it Christmas
Or his 5th Birthay
And he thinks C.U.S.O.T.D.Y spells fun or play
I spell out all the hurtin' words
And turn my head when I speak
'Cause I can't spell a way this hurt
That's drippin' down my cheek.

Our D.I.V.O.R.C.E becomes final today
Me and little J.O.E will be goin' away
I love you both and it will be pure H.E double L for me
Oh, I wish that we could stop this D.I.V.O.R.C.E.

Dixie Chick - another era, I am talking about 3 years ago. Believe me I am being kind by calling it CW, you should have heard what my co-workers used to call it. By the way there was always allot of hairspray, conf flag and c. boots (actually I did not mind the C. boots, I was always shocked at how much some of the people used to pay for them). I am not talking about small hick towns, I am talking about venues such as Atlanta, Houston, Nashville and Raleigh. One good thing - the food was always good

I personally do not like much of what is coming out of Nashville these days, but Texas country is a different story! It's more a mix of country/rock, but some 'twanggy" stuff too. Most of the artists you won't find on the traditional cw stations. Give it a shot, live stream at http://www.959theranch.com/

Any country dancing on STX? Hubby doesn't dance, but that's the nice thing about line dancing. You don't need a partner.

My gf and I will be dancing at the Wyndham Ocean club tommorow (friday). the band there plays all of the country music we want during their breaks. The songs they dont have we will have on memory stick (.mp3). We will be doing line dancing , couples flow dancing (line dancing with a partner), and some UCWDC dances (2 step, east coast , west coast , etc).

come on out and join us. We can also give impromtu classes on beginner steps for folks that want to learn.

saturday night we will be at either the Ocean club again or out at Hull bay.

We will be their early on both nights, 7 30 - 8 ish.

Maybe our new country music station should sponser some country evenings in various spots around the island. It would be good to promote the station and might help some of the bars/restaurants during the off season.
