I like both kinds of music.
Country and Western. LOL Just kidding!
I actually like most kinds of music. Classic rock, Blues, Country, Classical, Soul, R&B, Top 40. I'll even listen to Jazz if I'm in the mood.
I love my Sirius radio stations. If I'm in the mood I can play 60s, 70s, 80s,Margarita Ville, Blues, Rock, All Elvis etc....
Music is expression and I don't understand how anyone can HATE the whole genre. Surely those that hate it, like a few songs??
If not.........Lighten up, Life's too short to HATE music!!
I welcome the new station and wish them well.
Pandora rocks, so do earbuds.
There is a lot of good music in almost all genres; my disdain comes from the old days of working in an environment where country radio came on in the morning and played all day. Likewise with latin music: I think it's WONDERFUL except when some guy in the neighborhood blasts it out of a tin speaker while building a house down the road, or some similar scenario. It isn't fair to judge the music by the poor listening etiquette, but most people associate music with the situation it's heard in and it's all very deeply rooted in the brain and hard to shake.
"I also saw an article in today's AVIS that Roger was evicted from his apartment for non payment of rent--since November."
Must have been a very slow news day for this to be put in the island paper. Times are tough everywhere including here in the islands.
nforbes: i have been trying to call the station to lend support. i was walking down king st. yesterday and heard country being played on car radio full blast by local (nice to hear something besides that other stuff)
hope they keep it up.
I walked out of Schooner Bay to see one of those oversized monster trucks with all windows down blaring "Friends in Low Places". Took me right back to southern Missouri (shudder).
I agree, headphones are nice. I'd rather hear reggae dance hall than country.
But, opinions are opinions...I don't hate country music but won't be listening unless forced to by rolled down windows.
now that is a bit over the top noah. i won't force others to listen to it from car windows. lol
Thank you for that DixieChick!
It must be like Hillbilly Heaven on STX....Anyone know if they are hiring?
but now noah if i pass you i will lower window and crank up the boom box. (teasing):P
never thought of st. croix as hillbilly heaven but why not!!!???
now we just need a moonshine factory next to the rum fac. some hillbilly heroine
hey i wonder if they will have a float in the st. paddys parade??? diggin out my daisy dukes and boots.......:D
@ radioguy, my source says No not now, they are waiting to see how the stations programming is recieved for awhile before makin any personnel moves/hires @ Dixiechick I think we might be related ! Didn't my cousin Earl marry your cousin Earl? LOL:D
To me, radio stations are like restaurants, the more variety the better.
The music is great, I own two businesses and I plan on adverstising...I would like to hear some personality in the morning, they should break up the morning duo on mongoose and put that hysterically funny woman on the country show
does anyone know the website?
Alice, you should advertise if you like the station however you will never see me in your establishment because I will never listen to that hillbilly music.
does anyone know the website?
Since no one would answer my question about what the station # was I did my own google search and here is the web link.
Alice, too bad that I wont be in the same establishment with STCMike, but I will be there, BTW why are you so angry STCmike?
Frenchies on the North side like it over here in STT!
It's such a bummer that the switch over went to contemporary country western. i heard the switchover from paradise to caribbean country and the first song they played was the johnny paycheck song, "take this job and shove it". a fine choice, but i have a feeling that caribbean country will be more taylor swift and less hank williams...
Isn't country music an oxymoron like military intelligence and jumbo shrimp?
I haven't listened too much because I only listen to radio in the car, but I just went out for a while and had it on. I thought it was just right. This afternoon, at least, they were playing songs I was familiar with, but not too over the top twangy. Reminded me of the 80's when country was COOL! I much admit, I do like a lot of the old, old country though, like Hank (Sr. and Jr.) and Tammy, etc. I hope it works out well for them.
I'm in ine with you Juanita! I enjoyed the station yesterday while driving out west. Iooked back and my daughter was fast asleep. I wish we had this option a few years ago when she was an infant. Also, I heard a advert for FREE SPEECH or a new version coming in days...stay tuned, y'all!
Country music is HUGE down island- St Vincent, Grenada, etc. Pat Ross put out a CD of country music that almost rivals Patsy Cline. And NO one rivals Patsy Cline! Even here, among older musicians, Charlie Pride is a favorite. "Hillbilly" indeed! Harumph! And I am a rock & roller at heart...
East Ender
How right you are. As Jimmy Buffet said "nobody can sing em like Pasty" (a Virginia girl btw)
If you want Hillbilly music go back to Texas, Mississippi or wherever else its popular.
Why would stcmike or anyone else object to more choices in anything - radio stations, restaurants, stores, etc. I really don't understand.
And to tell someone to "go back where you came from" is distasteful on a whole other level.
