Hello, My girlfriend and I just made the move to st croix. We decided to make the stay until christmas to see if we like it or not. We now are just hoping to buy a car or rent one or anything really until the christmas time. We are hoping to spend no more then 1000. Please reply if you can be of any assistance. Thanks so much!!

Most cars, even used on St.Croix are several thousand dollars. Your best course of action is probably renting a small car, such as a corolla or other such vehicle. If you do find a car for 1000 or less, check it to see if it is rusted, as cars here rot VERY quickly due to the salt in the air. Hope this helps!:@)

I'm sure you have done the math. A subcompact rental car will probably cost you about $800 a month. Because it is low season and if you guarantee three or four months you might be able to negotiate a smaller amount. Four months times $800 dollars is $3200, but that does include some insurance. In the past even some shortime people bought and sold a car for around $3000 with no major loss in value. That might work for you, but it is a bit of a gamble.
