I heard there's dudes that wash cars in csted but doesnt STX have like a normal car wash? Do those guys at the govt building have like running water? Someone said they're bums? Sorry if I offend as I literally don't know. My car is covered in salt form the boat over. It's black so I can't have someone washing it with dirty water or it gets really bad swirl marks.

There's one in the phone book but disconnected.

I've seen two kinds of car washes on STX: 1) A guy in the street or parking lot with a bucket and a sponge, and 2) One or two guys under a car port type of thing with a pressure washer, bucket, sponge, vacuum, cleaning potions, and a water tank or cistern near by. I've used both, and either way works fine, regardless of car color. They want your repeat business.

Sounds like someone could open a car wash business and do very well in STX. We have at least 3 that I know of in STT.

Also at the Gas For Less Gas Station but they do have tarps and whatnot.

There are no car wash places that I know of, except for a few do-it-yourself spots, mainly at gas stations.

Gas For Less is the one next to Sunny Isle Shopping Center, due south, on the annex where Mailboxes & More is located. They have their own pressure washers, etc.

P.S. There is also the one at the gas station nearby Chocolate...

There is a reputable car wash just past Savant on your way to Gallows Bay. Its in the same lot as Miriam's Mexican place with the outdoor bar. My wife takes her car there sometimes. It used to be called YB Dirty I think.

I found a very nice guy online C&J over by a pueblo - don't ask me which one....not far from sunny isles. He even came to Kmart and guided me there since I got lost like three times. They have a bays and power washers and do interiors and exteriors. I'll report back once my ride is done. I can't believe how much salt is on it.

One of the fancier car washes is at Gas City. From the Five Corners intersection, go about two-thirds of a mile west on Rt. 75, and it's on the right.

Also heading west past Plaza West near Centerline Bakery there is a self-serve place that is a little overgrown and easy to miss but it works in a pinch.

I've used these guys a number of times. Really nice, great service, and good work. They don't slack and they're fairly reasonable. I'd definitely recommend them.

There has been automated drive thru car washes on stx before, however they more than likely failed due to high utility costs.

I have always used the car wash boys in the Government parking lot on Strand in downtown Christiansted. They are not homeless! I usually pay 15, but, since a regular, if I only have 10 and its a slow day for them they'll take that. My Lincoln MKX always looks nice when they get through. Only problem, some times I'm not wanting or needing to stay downtown as long as it takes them to finish!

I work downtown and get my car washed by the guys that work in the area. Keemo and Trini are the best. Calling them "bums" ... really? I suggest you build a relationship with the car wash dudes in the government parking lot. They do a good job and they'll look out for you and your car.

Sorry for calling them bums... when I asked random people about car washing they said literally "the bums at the govnt building". So being new I was just repeating what the locals said.

The guys in Government lot siphon water from the Pethany Bldg cistern.
I've always been leery of someone washing an entire vehicle with a bucket of water.
But the end result seems to look OK.

I wash my own vehicles at home.
