Car Rentals in St. Thomas
Where is the best deal for auto rental--4 adults> We will be there for 1 week in Sept..
Sherry,
We just got back from a week's vacation on STT. We rented from Budget, Chevy Cavalier, total of $180 for the week. Quite a shocker, though. Cars are slightly beat up, not like the new rental you would get in the states....lots of dents, etc.
Lots of fun driving on those crazy roads!
Remember that Adam Sandler song called "Piece of S*** Car"? That just about accurately described the majority of the cars in the VI, lol. It's true that the only real driving hazard in the VI are the roads....
Sherry:
We rented a Hertz Mid-Size for $193. (incl. taxes, etc.) for a week (in April) with the AAA discount (10%). Gas cost us $22. Also, we did not take the "extra" insurance waiver, as our personal auto insurance & credit card covered any collision damages that might have occured.
The car was almost new....no dents, etc. A Mid-Size should suffice as long as you don't have too much luggage. I believe a full size would have cost about $20. more. We booked on-line at www.hertz.com
For you, spliting the cost 4 ways (less than $50. per person) is the way to go. Taxis would be too expensive.
Have a great time.
