Car rental, no credit card

I've rented from various agencies without a credit card. I think Budget and Dependable will rent without a credit card but they will hold a lump sum of money until you return the car. For instance, you can use a debit card and they will run a charge at the beginning (a few hundred dollars, I think) and then return that money when you return the intact car. I suppose they will allow the same thing with cash/cashier's check/other cash substitute but they will require a deposit.

Budget and ESPECIALLY Dependable will no longer rent without a valid Credit/Check card. Dependable puts a $500.00 hold on the card and it takes an act of God to remove it.

Actually, the BEST place to rent a car with no credit card is, in my opinion, C & C Car Rental over on St. John. They will hold 300 cash and deduct the rental fees out of the cash. The last time I used them was right at a year ago when my car was broke down for a couple days, so the cash deposit might have gone up by now, I don't know. But I would DEFINITELY NOT use Dependable under ANY circumstances,

As for North Star Village, I have friends who live there and they seem to think it's an okay place.
