We are making our site visit the end of July and am looking for a reasonable priced car rental for the week. I attempted to do it on line along with our air fare and the price jumped by $100.00 from the price that was quoted. Any suggestions? We don't need a name brand company so to speak, just a reliable small car to get us around the island.

On STX try Centerline Car Rental.
Used to have pretty good pricing and decent, relatively new vehicles. They have an office at the airport and are the only car rental agency at the seaplane terminal.

I forgot to say, we are flying into St. Thomas and will be staying on the East End for a week.

"Reasonably priced" is very subjective.

Join AARP and use its discount codes - for example, below is the link for Avis car rental for AARP members.

Most car rental services offer discount codes - try this site.
Renting cars in the VI has always been expensive.
